THE ACCURSED is my first ever solidly YA fantasy novel & I am SO excited to share this adventure with you!
Teen heroine Elfled is the only "unBlessed" member of her family--never a problem until they flee political persecution. Without magical skills to see her through, Elfled has only wits & hopes in her fight to resist the forces driving her squarely into Evil's lair.
It's intricately connected and part of the work, so I create it myself. I am slowly inching closer to a unified visual style for the series.
You'd think sticking to silhouettes would make it simpler, but my stars, it's complex to get the essence of a character into just an outline! It's fun, though.
The cover for book one is new. It's Freya using plants as murder-weapons. 🖤
While I was working on compiling a PDF proof of some writing drafts this morning, I realized MS had "enhanced" office with AI. Without asking, without consent.
I was able to do the registry edit solution and now the AI.exe task does not appear to be loading when I go in to work on a draft.
Hey Patrons, both current and future! This is just to remind you that supporters at even the lowest monthly levels get full access to the catalog of professional-grade releases of fiction and any nonfiction worthy of publication—feature-length, short stories, and everything in between.
This will include audio works also as soon as I find a suitable volunteer or find a way to compensate a professional.
#WritersCoffeeClub 25/5: Do you use a cover artist or design your own covers? Share your cover art.
My non-fiction covers have been done by the publishers, often using my photos.
For my novels, I’ve done my own, again based on my own photos, using Lightroom and Photoshop. Below is the potential cover for Book 4, due in August. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#VowsAndWatersheds#writing#books

I tried making my own covers. Didn't work out very well, but cover designers are expensive. They should be, it's value they create, but when my books don't earn much... it creates a rock and a hard place.
Anyway, I use cover designers now, and I'll share one that I love very much (partially because I love the characters so much and the designer totally got them).
please welcome my friend @AJ_Ponder to Mastodon. They are a great writer and author, and I'm so glad they followed my invitation here.
Let's show them how great our community here is, how much fun we have, and how a social medium without algorithms and the need to make money for shareholders actually works.
Has anyone found any good summaries of what the recent...kerfuffle around Google's AI bullshit (not to let my feelings show or anything) means for things like SEO strategy, content marketing, etc?
I'm working on some ideas for my own articles to aid with my current job hunt so any and all recommendations, thoughts, comments, and excoriations are truly appreciated!

I keep dusting off a story I originally started as a short when I was in high school. I’ve rewritten the easiest completed parts a couple of times, and continue to add to it over time. I was fully planning on diving in to finally finish it this summer. Now I’m thinking once again about putting it on the back burner. I’ve got 2 competing ideas floating in my heads. One I know I can wait on. The other is what’s intriguing me. /thread #writingcommunity#authorsofmastodon
It's amazing how a few lines of suggestions from my editor can result in such an extensive re-write, including a new chapter! 🤪 This book is exhausting me 🤣

Not much interferes with my writing unless I allow it.
That’s the place in which I find myself at this point in my life. Writing is my cub & I’m a mama bear.
There are daily chores, like cleaning, cooking, or sometimes shopping. Beyond that, some activities that I participate in, like walking, serve my writing. Others—& really, this is true of life in general—it’s all material my writing feeds upon.
The fifth chapter of Stardust: Labyrinth is out! Horrifying event after horrifying event happens as the five tries to find their way back after the fourth chapter's incident, threatening to derail the expedition completely. Will they manage to regain their bearings?
#WordWeavers 23/5: Are your MCs picky about where they sleep?
Both Jerya and Rodal grew up in a village where they slept on platforms carved from solid rock with only a thin pad stuffed with goat-hair for a mattress. And crossing the mountains they (and Railu) slept under a tarpaulin on whatever bit of vaguely smooth and level ground they could find. so, no, they’re not picky. #writingCommunity#ThreeKindsofNorth#TheSunderingWall#VowsAndWatersheds#writing#books
