Thirty years ago, I used the holidays to rewrite our in-house 3d tool from scratch, based on specs and design I worked on for a year. On January 2nd 1994, the first version was running!
I'm incredible proud, humbled and impressed of where it went. Happy 30th birthday :) #b3d
This is a short animation test I rendered out just to check the timing... this is probably the last thing I'll be working on with this scene, but the animation is slow going.
The final will rotate the cube as the truck traverses it. 😎
Week highlights: @Blender 3.6 beta is out, @Krita gets MLT-based animation player, MLT gets more 10-bit video support, VGC Illustration gets UI update and new tools, DrMr sampler gets a new life in a fork by Peter Semiletov
I sorta want to make a 60fps version, maybe at half speed. But that would mean 4x the frames as this one, and I'm not ready to devote 6 hours of render time to this.
Blu Tack Beetles retrieve the bits you 'lose' and return them to the Blu Tack factory, where they squish them all together, roll them out flat, and sell them back to you cos you 'ran out'.
Then they laugh their capitalist little wing cases off at you.
Blender HQ is hosting the annual #Gimp developer workshop "Wilber Week". And two #Inkscape developers joined. Pictures are of today's session on aligning the color pipeline between our apps. #b3d

A bit of a different #blender project from me: abandoned train tracks.
The tracks are created with a simple geometry nodes setup, and the botaniq asset pack was a live saver for the plants in this one. The log is from Polyhaven. Maybe I'll play around with nature scenes more often from now on.
Animation is not something I've ever formally trained in, but I enjoy doing it. I just tend to get really caught up in the details of the curves, making sure everything looks just right. 😅
Created across many versions of Blender, but touched up and rendered in Blender 4.0, with Cycles. AgX is pretty nice!
