Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as uBlock Origin #uBOwill be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 (#Mv3).
The new #Chrome manifest will prevent using custom filters and stops on demand updates of blocklist. Only #Google authorized updates to browser extension will be allowed in the future, which mean an automatic win for Google in their battle to stop YouTube #AdBlockers .
#ManifestV3 is deceitful and threatening to your privacy, and now is a good time to switch to #Firefox (@mozilla) and/or #TorBrowser (@torproject) if you haven't done so already!
EDIT for clarification: MV3 in Chrome will still allow some ad blocking extensions, but will severely limit their blocking ability and even restricts pre-set filters to 50 MAX.
I've been talking about how AI will directly lead to an Idiocracy (2006) scenario for some time, but today's update to the "can you melt eggs?" saga is as clear an illustration of how as I think it's possible to ever have.
Quora's AI answers made up the melting point of eggs, and then Google picked it up and responded affirmatively that you can indeed melt eggs.
Then people wrote articles about how stupid it is that Google says eggs can melt. The Google fixes the answer.
Then Google ingests an article about how stupid it is that Google says you can melt eggs, and suddenly Google starts answering affirmatively again that you can melt eggs, citing the article about how stupid Google is for thinking you can melt eggs.
In case you were wondering about threads, the timeline is full of shit I don’t follow and it isn’t chronological. So it’s just Facebook made to look like twitter.
@mattgrayyes I gave up on #Facebook. 99% of my feed is now ads / sponsored posts or suggested groups. Who's going to wade through all of that to see the 1% from their friends? A once useful tool has been #enshittified to the point of being completely useless. My only hope is that if Meta are adopting Activitypub I might some day be able to see my FB friends' posts on Mastodon, but that doesn't seem like a good business model for FB so I can't imagine it really happening.

Josef #Prusa has been releasing fully open source (and awesome) 3D printers for years now, and there are tons of cheap Asian-manufactured clones for half the price (and a whole heck of a lot of trouble).
I don't remember Prusa ever talking about removing anyone's access to the code and designs of their printers if they shared it with an Asian manufacturer.
I think they're basically calling the community worthless if they're not paying, and they're going to remove anyone's access to the source code if they share it with anybody -- which is clearly against the GPL.
I think RedHat has fully jumped the shark. I knew they would become #enshittified when IBM bought them.

If you have YT Premium but turn off history, Google takes your home tab for a long drive to farm in the country. Incredibly, they serve you an #enshittified product even though you are a paying fucking customer. It’s standover stuff, nice subscription you have there, be a shame if anything happened to it areas. What a shit organisation it has become.

BTW, I mean this non-ironically. This is generating a huge amount of engagement, juicing user numbers, which companies generally care more about than accuracy.
For people not familiar with basketball, a bad miss is called a "brick" and Klay Thompson put up a lot of bricks against the Sacramento Kings. People talking about this resulted in Twitter creating this AI generated "trend" saying that Klay was vandalizing houses in Sacremento.

Back in the day, #Gmail had this function where it you received an email (newsletter...) with a date/time, you could (highlight that part and) create a calendar entry automatically for that point in time, and with the email subject as the #calendar title.
Of course, Gmail has been #enshittified to the point where this function/workflow is no longer available.
But is there any other email client/calendar combo out there that still has this function?

Since #search has been #enshittified, I can't find them or their business. Any help locating them will be appreciated.
