I acquired my clematis last yr. It was already blooming when I purchased it. It grew larger & later bloomed a 2nd time. Wasn't sure if I had a repeat-bloomer but it appears I do since it grew, bloomed extensively, died back, & is growing & budding just now this yr.

Been photographing flowers for the past 3 yrs. What I especially like about 🌼 photography is watching the wildflower populations shift/change from yr to yr. Lot's of fleabane this yr which is one of the 1st wildflowers (Erigeron, E. strigosus seems likely in this case) I ever ID'd. This was taken at the #IowaRiverLandingWetlandPark in #Coralville, Iowa.

I have fun taking macro photos of #bumblebees especially on purple coneflowers which they seem to enjoy & frequently visit. They're so large & cooperative that it's not too hard to make them "appear" the size of a school bus. My ID app suggests that this is a brown-belted bumblebee (Bombus griseocollis) which is a North American native.

Our #clematis vines are really taking off and starting to bloom. I planted them last year but they were very much underachievers, maybe because of our long hot summer, and after our one hard freeze this winter I thought they might be dead, but definitely not. This variety is called John Paul II 🤷♂️.
How gorgeous are these 'Japanese Anemones' flowers that caught my eye when out walking today.
Looking splendid in the sunshine, the flowers are a stunning blend of pastel pink leaves with soft white edges that surround a bright lime green centre with a ring of short, bright yellow stamen.
