I don't wear a #poppy because my father, who fought in WW2 as a pilot (latterly Squadron Leader) in Bomber Command never wore one (not least of all because of how BC veterans were sidelined after the war), but I do wonder if I was on TV (or in public life) such family history would allow me to resist the social pressure to wear one.
People should wear poppies if they so desire, but equally we should be free not to wear them.... in a small way that's exactly the freedom my father fought for!
I was photographing this flower at first from a lower vantage point and a different side when I noticed a long slim hair-like item moving. When I changed my vantage point, I saw that it was the antennae of this tiny little insect looking back at me!
Icelandic Poppy, a garden silver lining.
The continued cold is killing some of my more tender veg seedlings that will no doubt go into shock when the weather jumps 20 degrees, 3 days from now 😒
BUT there are a few things thriving, like the cool weather crops that are still killing it well into May and many of the spring flowers.
