This one was a bugger to get done. The triangles aren’t a standard size, so much more challenging than usual. It’s not my design, it came as a prepackaged unit. It’s called Cherry Blossom. I even put the borders in with mitered corners. Did I mention this one was a bugger to get done?
The thing is (apart from me having insomnia right now) that I got a selection of brown, tan and beige fabrics to make my very first quilt to use as a comforter, matching it to my bedroom decor. But now my bed is the sofa in the living room, which is mostly teal, black, pink and bits of scarlet and dark green. Would it be feasible for me to simply buy small pieces of those colours to shift the tones of the quilt to better match my living room - until such a time I feel like investing on a new bed and can return to bedroom.
Lend me your wisdom, #Quilting people!
All four borders are cut and sewn. As I was preparing to clip one border to the rest of the quilt (aside: clips vs pins are a no-brainer for me; pins hurt my fingers!) Cassidy decided to observe from the middle of the quilt.
When I was a little girl, as a gift for my Mom, I made her this pincushion, that fit perfectly in her sewing box.
I love 💗 that she treasured it enough, to use it the rest of her life – and that it’s come back to me, to treasure, with her sewing box. 🥰❤️
The quilt sandwich has begun! I only got three lines done before the Dread Pirate kid made it home but making space and vacuuming the floor and pinning it all together was the hard part.
There's an interesting research survey (yes with IRB and you can preview the entire survey before starting) about accessibility and crafting. I follow the investigator on Instagram.
I did all the math and decided these would be far enough apart that it wouldn't bother me, but of course now that I've actually sewn them I'm questioning my choices.
This is one of two pieces I created for the DIY Show "Uncommon Threads" many years ago. I demonstrated the steps for piecing the 3d roses for the topiary. That was a fun experience!
Available on my Etsy shop. Thank you for boosting artists!
I’ve been enjoying stitching up my Crazy Quilt Sewing Machine, as one element for my Bits & Bobs quilt.
It turned out ‘sew’ lovely, I had to offer it as a pattern – which comes with two sizes of templates. 👏😍
#quilting First 2 - of 99 - blocks of The Framer’s Wife 1930s. I’m paper piecing them all rather than messing with templates. This will be a slow and steady project, hopefully finished by May for our exhibition. But if not, who cares! #quilting2024
Next #quilting project: using up some batting scraps to make a small lap blanket. This is part of the Acadia National Park block from Carol Doak's 60 Fabulous Paper Pieces Stars. #sewing@quilting@sewing
Here below're two really beautiful #quilts my mom made that're available, the first one's a lattice design #quilt and measures 52 x 58.5 in (132 x 149 cm); and the second one, the butterfly quilt, that one my mom recently finished, she said it took four months to complete, that one measures 55 x 68 in (140 x 173 cm); msg me if you like either these! Great to give to a friend or family member of yours as a gift! Everyone loves getting a nice #handmade quilt! 🌟 #art#arts#quilting#quilter
My mom sent me an e-mail with some photos in it last week of some new #quilts she has available, here is one of them, check it out! My mom likes doing really experimental stuff with quilts, this one's really modern, lots of awesome stuff going on in this one. It measures 72 x 84 in (183 x 213 cm), so it is nice and large. Let me know if you'd like to take a nap under this dazzling piece of #textile#art! ~~~ #quilt#arts#artwork#artist#artists#quilting#quilter#quilters#decor#textiles
The great 2024 #decluttering has turned up this. It’s a washable colouring in map thingy. I’m very tempted to turn it into a small quilt. Maybe with flags around the outside as a border? Could maybe colour in the critters with embroidery? 🤔
It’s cold, but I’m extra cozy. My stitches are far from perfect, but I’m having fun. The tea is Ho Ho chai, and it’s pretty tasty. #quilting#tea#SnowDay
