Saw a post of FB with lots of locations where people count how many places they’ve flown to. They are vying for top spot. One person has been to 90 places. It’s depressing that people think this is something to aspire to. These are people I know who voted green, the cognitive dissonance is astounding. #ClimateChange#tourism
As of this month, four public institutions in Nara Prefecture – including the Prefectural Museum of Art, which charged locals a ¥400 (about $2.6) admission fee – will scrap all no-charge privileges for foreign tourists. The museum had allowed foreigners free admission since 2008.
It used to be you could get into some key cultural attractions in Japan as a tourist at a discount. Here's why those days may be over as more locations end what locals say are "unfair" discounts for inbound visitors.
“We came here just to have lunch and go home, and now it’s like everyone is trapped here...The couple went to a general store and bought some emergency supplies: water, hot dogs and instant oatmeal."
BORACAY Island, Cebu, Siargao, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taipei were the most popular destinations last #HolyWeek for most of the country’s major carriers. They’ve had to increase flight frequencies on some routes due to the strong passenger demand. #PAL#CebuPacific#AirAsia#aviation#travel#tourism#Philippines
And in other news, here is a fresh story about #HeritageCrime#HeritageVandalism in our immediate neighbourhood. When they say that Wales is the playground of English tourism, it's not really logical, because you wouldn't treat a playground as a trash dump, would you?
The Sphere, Las Vegas is truly a local landmark and icon. I’ve always felt that we had smaller versions of #venice or #paris or #newyork. This trip we saw “Postcards from The World” an immersive take on the world and it was spectacular. We also met Aura, the chatty #robot that answered all our questions. I am proud to say that now I feel that Las Vegas has a structure of its own that is truly unique. Not to say massive! #tourism#travel#photography#travelphotography
Keeping #dolphins, #orcas and other cetaceans in #captivity is cruel. Depriving them of the vast open spaces and social bonds that they would normally have in the wild, and confining them to small, concrete #tanks to perform tricks for dead fish is highly unethical for these complex marine mammals. No matter how sophisticated the enclosure, no man made facility can ever hope to replicate the wild world of dolphins and whales.
