An anonymous Apple executive says out loud what we all suspected: they won’t deal because then they’d have to pay everyone what they’re worth for the work they do, and DGA’s proposed deal leaves them unprotected from replacement.

So AMPTP companies are all now permanently shutting down right? I mean the CEOs, Zaslav, Donna, Ted & Bob said it was their “last, best & final offer,” so I guess there’s gonna be no film & TV business, right? Or are these four CEO chuckleheads lying sacks of waste & they must now confess that SAG-AFTRA in fact decides what is last, final & best?
The shareholders ought to throw the CEOs out head first, every one of them.
The entertainment industry is not the tech industry. Doing things like the tech industry does them is not what the entertainment industry is about, even if the CEOs forget that.
The AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA had to agree this month to have the word “telegraph” replaced with the words “email or text” in the tentative agreement. North America hasn’t had a telegraph system since 2006.
But the producing companies (AMPTP) would, and then would use that actor again and again without permission or payment.
Would it be worth me making a whole ad along these lines, like the old anti-piracy ones, and including that using actors and writers previous work to train AI without consent or compensation is essentially piracy/theft?
