need ~30 lbs of cobalt, so the US needs millions of tons for the EV boom, which will continue to push 1000s of Black women, men, and children into pits and tunnels.

Of the 255,000 Congolese mining for cobalt, 40,000 are children. They might work for around $2USD/day.

No one knows how many have been killed in the mines.

The Congo has over 90x the amount of cobalt in the U.S., where people are exploited for it.

This needs to be shared widely. The cost of these so-called items that are going to save the environment are wrecking havoc on the places with the resources. Why are they living in poverty when they have what we want? And why are children doing these jobs?

First, group names like this need to be avoided at all costs. Then the people in these groups must be watched like hawks. Hold people's feet to the fire when they cannot give examples for what they claim is happening. And more importantly mind your own children's reading list. Like you mind your own household and body.

Sooooo I’m not better at all since ER on Monday. In fact I’m worse and in terrible pain. Been awake since 2 pm yesterday from it and likely going back to ER in about 3 hours when our daytime caregiver for my son arrives. Always got to have coverage here before anyone is allowed an emergency. The life of @caregivers, eh? I’m thinking all the medical folks are missing something, my best guess is gallbladder. Can you post some funny stuff to distract me? I’d really appreciate it.

ST: Strange New Worlds S2 is as good and better than S1, which I already liked. It’s a show about loss, though—I think they built it on the framework of people keenly perceiving loss and absence, and finding a family that is anti-dysfunctional, that makes them whole. It’s a powerful theme, whether in a space opera or a realistic drama.
