We passed an anti-price gouging law in Portland years ago that is simple and brilliant.

Every store inside the airport must sell items at the same price they’d be in a normal store inside city limits.

It’s a bit of a shock when you buy a bottle of water there for $2, then on your return trip it’s $8 somewhere else.

Every airport in every city should have this law.

I loathe current-AI in basically all its forms. It's unethical, absolutely divorced from anything that resembles consent.

But you know what I would want AI for?

Smarter driving instructions. A GPS in my car that learns how I like to drive - no lefts on busy streets for example. That when I ask about things like a coffee shop or takeout food en route gives me the option to specify if it has a drive thru and is it on the right side of the road?

AI that serves me, not replaces me.

So here's the thing. I like animals including, of course, dogs. (I don't have any because I live in an apartment and I'm allergic to most mammals.)

But when I'm running/hiking at the county park. Where leashes are REQUIRED on the trails. And dogs I don't know come running up to me.

The reason I look unhappy at the owners is not because I dislike dogs. It is not because I have an irrational "fear" of dogs. It's because I don't like complete strangers running up to me out in the woods. 😠

Two kids just started playing a game involving “zaps” and “took 5 points of damage,” and I’m smiling at their conversation when I hear the dad, still unpacking the car, yell, “Hey! Boys? I'm putting together a collection of women-and-the sea songs, and there is an Ingrid Michaelson song I love called Far Away I can't find. The album version is rubbish (no offense Ingrid lol), but there's a really beautiful live version on Apple Music and I no longer have access to that. I think maybe it's from an Apple event but I'm not sure? Is there anyway to BUY Apple-owned music? When I do a search on Apple Music it just shows me the album recording.
