The truth of the matter is the health of economy does not reflect the health of the #workingclass which is in terrible shape. All I see when some article wants to tout about the economy doing well is "Look how much richer he's made the 1%."
In these times where #violence is displacing millions of people, it's easy to feel helpless, and that all you can do is scream into the void we call #socialmedia hoping it will all stop.
But depending on where you live, maybe there is something you can do. #volunteer to help the #refugees in your area.
Even my mid-sized southern city accepted and relocated hundreds of refugees this year, and many of them need food, aid, language training, etc, and the orgs that help them are understaffed.
I guess #leavetwitter is going to be my hill to die on. All I know as someone who helps out people who organize #LGBTQ events, most people who bother us are people who fall for #misinformation or are radicalized by bad actors on #twitter
Maybe they peek in to see what #taylorswift is up to cause that's where she posts, and bam, they see and fall for a libs of tiktok post, and they end up threatening our venue.
Maybe if we stopped leading people there, we could help solve the problem.
If someone claims to be an ally of #queer people, and they try to whitewash Soviet, Cuban, or Asian communist history, they are not a true #LGBTQ ally.
I just had an eye opening interaction with a crreator I follow on #youtube I asked them if they would consider opening a line of communication outside of #twitter like on #mastodon or #threads and they had not actually heard of mastodon.
They seemed very curious about it though, and I explained what the site was and the appeal of it to me.
I think its easy enough for many of us to forget that some people just don't know about mastodon.
I got pushback on #kbin for saying this, but I think that the fact many #leftist or #socialjustice content creators and influencers continue to use #twitter is hypocritical, and undermines their integrity. I might create a larger blog post explaining my thoughts on this. But I guess I would like to hear from #mastodon what you think of this take. I can understand users who still need to use it for their job or livelihood, but not creators who encourage their audience to follow them there.
I'm getting really tired of sites like the #guardian using misleading headlines and people creating discourse based on what is basically misinformation.

The reason I dislike 2D Metroid games is the fact that it is very easy to get lost and lose progress on where you are going.
I may have started #Supermetroid hundreds of times, have gotten further and further, but always get to a point where I get lost, and eventually lose interest.
It's an amazing game for its atmosphere and feeling of isolation, and deserves its praise, but it's not a game for me.
I often hear that #cats unlike dogs or farm animals domesticated themselves. Whether true or not, I like to imagine one day a caveman sat down for..I dunno, mammoth steak, and a cat just jumps up on his lap like "you feed me now. I will accept chin scritches and pets, and you will provide me with a steady stream of fish and meats!" And that has been the arrangement ever since.
Growth at any cost should not be the goal of #fediverse. I feel establishing a community and an identity of it's own should be our main focus.
Anyone who has been to #twitter and #reddit within the last couple of years know how exhausting the users can be. Meanwhile, I've enjoyed #mastodon and #lemmy because the userbase here has been more welcoming and friendly.
However, the more lemmy grows, the more it feels like reddit. I would hate for masto to feel more like twitter.

What could instantly turn a bad day into a good day for me was coming home from school, and there being a copy of #nintendopower and #shonenjump in the mail pile for me. I would read these cover to cover, get excited for upcoming games, get hints on games I was playing, get a new chapter or two of a manga I was following, and learn what was hot in Japan.

So some interesting takeaways from posting #kbin content on #mastodon :
It is visible on Mastodon, but only to those following the poster.
They don't seem to be visible in the hashtags they are labeled in. So putting #fediverse in a tag or within the kbin post won't make it visible on the fediverse tag, even if its boosted by a mastodon user.
It seems this would be useful for pushing longer form content to followers, but not throughout mastodon itself.
I might be experimenting with #kbin as a means to express complex thoughts that cannot be easily expressed by #mastodon 's 500 character limit.
I have a lot of thoughts on the recent #bbc federation, some good, some bad. And I don't think breaking them into small, scatterable microposts would be the best way to convey them.
One of the coolest things about #fediverse is the ability to link content across multiple sites. Maybe I can use this to my advantage.
About a month ago, I was pondering cutting the internet out of my life entirely. With the web becoming more centralized in the hands of billionaires, and sites like #twitter and #reddit becoming more hostile to marginalized people, I thought about giving it up entirely. I was more or less just logging on to fufill an addiction.
