I'm not here to defend Meta or Threads. Fuck Zuckerberg.

But: if I wake up one morning and half my network is gone because a bunch of admins decided to defederate anyone who isn't enough of a purest about Threads, it's not Zuckerberg who I'm going to be mad at for ruining my Mastodon experience.

@maxleibman yep. Personal choice first. Granular rather than sweeping. Life is full of compromises. Purism feels good but it ultimately paints you into an ever smaller corner better moderation would negate blocking at the domain level. In my naive opinion of course. I reserve the right to act contrary to my idealism.

Saw some goths yesterday. All white faced and black lipstick. Ages since I've seen any goths. Out in daylight too.
Saw a young guy in a music shop that looked like he'd just walked out of a student band from 1983.
I've done it again haven't I? Travelled in time.
These random time portals are alway near a Greggs.

Oooh Thames water might collapse. In the wake of all those energy companies that actually did collapse. It's almost as if the method of privatisation of our essential utilities was not fit for purpose.

Sparks have had a most deserved renaissance of late. I admit I'd kind of lost them in the 90s and only when the Lil Beethoven album came out in the early 2000's did I realise that they were almost single handedly keeping the flame of art rock alive.
I have no idea why I find My Baby's Taking Me Home (which was from Lil Beethoven) quite so emotional. These days Ron does the talking section when played live.

Well that's a first. Somebody asked me a random question in a dream overnight that has caused me to find out more about my answer. I was asked by strangers in a park if I'd ever met anybody so posh that I couldn't understand what they said.
I replied yes. A man named Dr Pugh who I was told was part of the successful UK based climb if Everest in 1953.
I'd never looked into this or really given it much credence but lo, that was Griffith Pugh. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffith_Pugh

I'm mostly a streaming music listener these days. Once in a blue moon I get the old media out. Long time no vinyl play. My original turntable from back in the day too. It's doing better than me considering its age. Only one belt change, a few stylus & cartridge swaps & some wood glue applied to correct an unglued belt idler wheel (Thankyou oo-tube).

I think this is as good as i can get in showing yet another direct hit by a pigeon on the kitchen window. No lasting damage caused to any pigeon I believe. Took a bit of exposure jiggling and polaroid filtering to the best clarity.

Bird feeder currently overrun by starlings with babies (always said in a Brummie accent in my mind) screeching their heads off. The jackdaw pops in now and then.

To this day if I catch Gary Numan's Cars on the radio or even in-store somewhere I just stop entirely and immerse myself.
There's a poignancy to having been young when it was a hit as well as it still sounding amazing.

Had a dream where we all lived in a world without flat screen TV's and thus no smartphones or tablets (just portable TV's with teletext. . CRT TV's the size of smart cars. You kind of drove them into gaps left in houses to fit such things. Good picture though. And still only 4 channels.

Idea for the BBC: Take all those antique, auction type TV programmes clogging up BBC 1 and 2 and stick them entirely on a specific channel called BBC Boomer. Go on. I dare you.

The good bit about having a manual push mower is that you can cut the grass in the evening without disturbing the neighbours (are you listening garden power tools man?). Going to need to cut the ample hedging soon. This will also be by hand. Snip snip. Bit by bit as and when I have the time (this is when I meet new people who speak to me whilst i'm queitly...er...trimming my hedge. Stop that).

Here (south of the USA) people won't stop talking and freaking out about the .

The noise is unusual and sounds for a lot of people like an alarm that has been forgotten. It is very loud.

It appears to be a treat for the chickens.

@compost luckily we don't have them here in the UK but they were common when I lived in Australia. Good description of the sound they make. Used to drive me to distraction.
