I received an email notification from one of my Patreon supporters mentioning that my pages are displaying ads. However, I do not have any ads running on my pages. I asked him to provide me with the URL and domain of the website he was referring to. He shared an imposter domain with me, but it seems that he missed the "www." part. It is interesting to see somebody is making some coins from typos. 😡

@nixCraft don't think there's anything legal you can do about it either. maybe u can load a script that checks the domain name and redirects to yours? they can get around it, but you can make them work hard...

That last boost from the @openrightsgroup is a THING for me.

Two days after an emergency C section I was in hospital when an unknown woman appeared at my bedside with a form. She starts taking details & I eventually gather enough wits about me to realise she's asking things she should know, & I ask "hang on, are you not hospital staff?".

Just DO NOT be such a jerk!

If you want artists to keep sharing their work on mastodon, this whole "absolute no commercial posts at all" attitude has to stop. There is a huge difference between a big corporate ad campaign and an individual artist posting a link to their own art shop.

@nixCraft BASIC on the ZX Spectrum with 48k RAM. I also remember the wow factor I had when I upgraded to a 128k version, and then to an 8086 with 640kb and gwbasic

Indian Physicist C.V. Raman died in 1970.

Using a spectrograph that he developed, he and his student K. S. Krishnan discovered that when light traverses a transparent material, the deflected light changes its wavelength and frequency. This phenomenon, a hitherto unknown type of scattering of light, was subsequently termed the Raman effect or Raman scattering. Raman received the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics. via @wikipedia

Can Linux developers and sysadmins predict if the network interface changes with the Debian 11 to 12 upgrade? This seems to be a problem with 11 to 12 upgrades for some users but not for others. I wonder why?
