I'm very creative, often clever, sometimes smart & on good days, kind.

I'm seldom organized, methodical or detail oriented.

To run a creative business, you need both.

@evoterra has proven patient & invaluable as a podcasting resource.

Mr. Rogers said 'Look for the Helpers' (and be one youself).

You need outside data for 'inspiration' so don't be afraid to ask for outside help in other ways.

Not to mention feedback, outside POV, criticism.

Look for the helpers. Thanks Evo!

This CBC piece/podcast ep makes the case that authoritarinism only rises in politics when people are scared... and that the destruction of the economy, middle class, rise of the 1% has left a lot of poeple scared.

Give it a read/listen & pass it on:

    My real worry with Google's voyage into enshittification (thanks to Cory Doctorow @pluralistic the term) is YouTube.

    Through YT, for the past 15 years, the world has basically entrusted Google to be the custodian of pretty much our entire global video archive.

    There's countless hours of archived footage — news reports, political speeches, historical events, documentaries, indie films, academic lectures, conference presentations, rare recordings, concert footage, obscure music — where the best or only copy is now held by Google through YouTube.

    So what happens if maintaining that archival footage becomes unprofitable?

    @technology

    john,
    @john@vyrse.social avatar

    YouTube as 'too big for ethics' and also 'too big to compete with' is terrifying AF.

    Nothing can replace YT and it's success or failure is in the hands of one unscrupulous company.

    I'm increasingly convinced the thing we should all be mad at and hate and want destroyed are corporations, not

    Corporations are stealing your wages, not the boss/owner sweating next to his employees in the kitchen or in the field.

    Corporations are the things buying politicians and judges and creating billionaires who take Clarence and Sam on $100,000 fishing trips, not the boss/owner who wishes you had universal healthcare so s/he didn't have to think about it.

    Tldr? I used to say capitalism wasn't the problem-then I listened to the podcast below.
