I was told once that Mastodon is a friendly void that yells back. I really like that.

The world is a big place filled with terrible and wonderful things. I sometimes comment on them at length.

Between Dolly Parton’s quiet COVID research fund, BLM support, and her sending generations of children books through the USPS, she continues to be one of the most relevant and wonderful people of every era. — Dolly represents the best of America, while Trump represents the worst.

Remembering Alan Turing, died on 7 June 1954, victim of prejudice and ignorance 💔 He was a mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst and computer scientist and is widely considered to be the father of computer science and artiticial intelligence. He was also homosexual in a time when homosexuality was illegal. After his conviction he was given a choice between chemical castration and prison. He chose chemical castration, and later chose to kill himself. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing

Unemployment has been at or below (mostly below) 4% since the end of 2021.

4 years ago, Trump called it "joyous" &"stupendous" that unemployment was only 13.3%.

In the "booming" Reagan years, unemployment averaged 7.5%.

Pres. Biden is presiding over historically strong growth.

Can't wait to one day tell my grandkids how I was on Mastodon in November of '22. They'll probably get sick of me talking about it.

In his meeting with Volodymyr , President apologized for delays in security funding — blaming conservatives:

"I apologize for those weeks of not knowing what's going to happen in terms of funding, because we had trouble getting the bill that we had to pass … some of our very conservative members who were holding it up."

Great. Appoint a couple of people who blindly support a guy who stole government secrets (which he confessed to and shipped the evidence that he had done so directly to the government he stole them from) and left them lying around a public country club where literally anyone could see them to the Intelligence committee.

I hope people are paying attention to this.

I'm having a technical problem. This would be a great time to have access to services such as Reddit and Stack Overflow as opposed to those services now being traps that exist to sell your words to sketchy businesses so the sketchy businesses can eat the delicious statistical relationships therein and use them to sound more plausibly like humans when they're telling you to eat rocks

Via Jon Favreau:

  1. Republicans block a bill that would protect contraception

  2. Trump floats jailing his opponents; an informal advisor suggests executing them

  3. DataProgress poll: 63% of swing voters have heard little to nothing about Trump's guilty verdict

May I humbly suggest that Biden supporters use their feeds to put some of this info in front of people instead of continuing to complain/amplify stupid WSJ story …?

152 days to go. Lots of work to do. Gotta pick our battles wisely.

In my experience, people don't really start to pay attention until about 3-4 weeks before the election, and then, the sum-total of what shapes their is the ads they see on TV and the state of the economy on (which often boils down to: the price of gas.)

Father's Day is coming up and my advice for gift giving is: BINOCULARS. And I'm not kidding at all. Versions available for every budget and everybody loves them. Concerts, stargazing, lying in the grass and looking at bugs. I've bought them for people aged 3 to 89 and they were always a hit 🙂

It is also disgusting that no one in his party has the decency to call him out. They are all complicit.

For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.

As @tiraniddo rightly points out, anybody can programmatically reach the Recall database without admin rights. https://infosec.exchange/@tiraniddo/112566044174482506

I should be transparent btw that I took Satya and Charlie’s commitment to security at face value too - I even published a blog on it backing that up - and I have concerns (it isn’t just me).

They’re now going to have to win trust back about winning trust back.
