Another day trying out #Calckey as my alt account.
It has a lot of different features like groups, antennas, pages, etc. I've started dabbling in each of them, but honestly - they haven't been very useful based on how I use my social media accounts.
I'm sure they are very helpful for some, so it is neat that they have those features. Just, not for me.
I've decided to go back to blogging using the #Wordpress
platform (rather than static HTML), thanks to the incredible #ActivityPub plugin that makes the blog part of the #fediverse.
While there are still lots of kinks to work out (and more than 20+ years worth of old blog posts to eventually migrate), I'm happy with the results thus far.
So... if you would like to follow my blog posts on the fediverse, please follow my account at: @jmb
Does anyone here know what happened to paper.wf? It's been down for at least 3 days for me, and I don't have backups of most of my material. #blog#Fediverse
I'm planning to write a guide on how to switch your Mastodon instance from Scaleway S3 to Self hosted Minio S3. There are some "lessons learned" that I would like to share.
... But as always, time is limited... I hope I'll get this done before all my thoughts are vanished 💭😬
> "Researchers have discovered that birds actually rely on drag to take off, positioning themselves so the force that slows things down is what raises them up. Meanwhile, it's lift—what moves things forward—that serves as their parking brake, helping to ensure a safe landing. They're the epitome of engineering/literature double majors: aeropropulsive poetry in motion." https://wordsmith.social/ohellofedefo/introconstruction
Just found this blog post in my blog sorting project, and I had to share it: it's about how I bullet journal and why I no longer write down the easy tasks. I just do them, and use my journal for goals instead.
#Beagles are hunting dogs. But one crazy #beagle mix made friends with a #raven and is friendly to all #birds (that are not tasty ducks). Today he helped me rescue the #redstart that is nesting right next to the back door above his lounging place.
"But social media also exposes movements to many vulnerabilities. The solidiarities it generates are often superficial: movement use of social media can easily devolve into repetitive messaging in echo chambers without collective gains in narrative power—a change in the stories and values that hold sway in society—or a translation to real-world militancy."
@screwtape@strypey@galdor Also: #blog, post online, and hack on #OpenSource code that scratches your itch or puts food on the table so you can drum up new business. Get your employer to let you release generic non-core code under a permissive license. Create mindshare for the tools and techniques you care about.
I explicitly started #Perl#blogging in 2021 because I wanted to keep getting paid to program Perl.
