One disturbing element of the story is the way that business interests adapt to and accommodate the politics of hate. The insurance co. won’t cover the bar not because of ideology but because of $$$ exposure. A bar that allows drag is now seen as too risky to underwrite. So the violence and dehumanization which injects into society are now simply part of business calculus. This is the nexus between and .

Featured Story: In the small Gulf Coast city of Freeport, a pretty mint-green house stands alone in a neighborhood called the East End, surrounded by what looks at first glance like a meadow. Closer examination reveals the grass is growing over recently emptied lots where other houses once stood. Now driveways lead to nowhere.

Earlier: In what seemed like a 16-hour indoctrination session, TEA’s “Lone Star Governance” program trainers had the 230 applicants who attended repeat self-flagellating mantras about their lack of integrity and lack of concern for student success to get them ready for what they called the “Lone Star Governance mindset."

“It seems like we’ll be too busy staring at student ... test scores to wonder why can’t we teach our kids about the real history of America, or why we are not allowed to vote for our own leaders here, or run our own elections?”

After the takeover of ISD, Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath is limiting school board control in the region and setting his own conservative agenda, reports @josephinelee:
