I’ve always been a bit confused about people pushing for more nuclear, especially folks that have historically been climate change deniers. I gotta say that I almost conceded to the idea that it might be needed to curb emissions, but @srslywrong effectively shattered that. https://srslywrong.com/podcast/308-the-case-for-100-wind-water-solar-to-combat-climate-change-w-mark-z-jacobson-2/

Did you know that you can purchase an electric vehicle for as little as $1,000?

Not only that, these vehicles also:

  • Can skip traffic jams
  • Be parked virtually anywhere
  • Get over 1,000 mpge
  • Emits no harmful air pollution
  • Don't require a government permit or expensive insurance
  • Can easily be repaired by yourself, and don't require long waits at expensive dealerships
  • Include optional exercise equipment, allowing you to choose to get exercise while in transit (if you want) and skip the gym membership
  • Can be operated by people of almost any age, so your kids can now transport themselves

What is this vehicle I'm describing? Some sort of newfangled flying car? A quantum teleporter?

No: It is the humble electric bicycle.

Spread the word.

Voilà ein altes Zitat: »Leed you pigs into the slaughter« wörtlich umgesetzt.

In the recently resurfaced debate about (or lunarpunk) aspects of and I'm intrigued by one aspect:

Why do we accept being given a solution without outlining the problem in the first place?

Why don't we listen to pitches instead of asking ourselves how we want to run our communities, how do we want to make decisions, vote, discuss things?

Just stating the problem first would make it very clear that there are multiple technical solutions, not just the Web3.

"You are my Sunshine" is a song that hums with all the notes of clifi, from the horrifying to the hopeful. Its titular novelette is a bone-chilling plunge into the terrifying depths of our climate reality. Octavia Cade @octaviacade weaves the same spell of sobering disquiet found in her novella, THE IMPOSSIBLE RESURRECTION OF GRIEF, to this collection of sunflowers, starfish & submarine paths to reworlding. A magnificent read. @StelliformPress

He might not be into software or hardware enough to appreciate cBase, he is more interested in city scale transport systems, urban planning and so on.

Hidden Lotus Herbs is getting ready to move to our new site and really ramp up our operations!

For some backstory,
I was the recipient of a fund from @coop to start a worker-owned and decided to make it an herbal apothecary!

We've been operational for around six months and are now starting our regenerative agroecological farm and increasing the capacity of our free clinic.

However, the systems we're building are more expensive than we budgeted for, and we could use some help getting the farm and clinic going financially.

We're really needing help from our community to make all this cool stuff happen!

If you can spare some $, please consider supporting our transition and future. If you can't, please share far and wide!

Thanks <3

"Hard times are coming, when we’ll be wanting the voices of writers who can see alternatives to how we live now, can see through our fear-stricken society and its obsessive technologies to other ways of being, and even imagine real grounds for hope. We’ll need writers who can remember freedom — poets, visionaries — realists of a larger reality."

Been on this binge lately so I'm reading and watching all about earthship construction, packed dirt tyre and earthbag walling, thermal mass air conditioning, water retention earthworks and permaculture berms and swales... all without need for electricity.

I'm familiar with passive house engineering but this stuff is fascinating. Rather surprisingly... why aren't we doing it more? That needs to change!

Planted up some seeds today as part of learning to .

Potatoes I planted in February and some seem to have taken - am just hoping the compost is deep enough for them.

Garlic I planted in December and again, hoping it's deep enough.

Carrots in the wellies! lol! Broccoli in a pot. Kale and extra carrots in the space the potatoes and garlic didn't take.

I'm going to sew some more of my seeds today which means I need to find some pots or other weird and wonderful things to plant them in!

Can't wait until we move and I can sort out a proper garden rather than planting into pots and wellies and who knows what else to grow stuff (not that there's anything wrong with that and it's definitely a good started for me as I have no idea what I'm doing - I just prefer to be able to design and plan everything).
