👋 to all of my #trans & #LGTBQ friends. We need to talk about the cis-het progressive/liberal problem, and I hope that you might be able to help me get through to the ones in my life.
I spent a few days with some old friends that I haven't seen in a while. At one point, Jason Aldean and #TransRights both came up in conversation. These people are solid #Democratic voters that hate all things #MAGA. They also happen to be Jewish, which I would think should make them sensitive to #fascism.
They don't watch #FeauxNews or any other right wing bullshit. They do, however, consume #Facebook & #Instagram feeds daily. It was their impression that trans people are forcing other people to use pronouns and make special arrangements for them. They also think that people uncomfortable with trans people should be free to bunk at camp in a cabin without trans people in it.
I 💯% know and believe that #TransRightsAreHumanRights but how can I more effectively pierce their myopic bubble?

Probably worth noting the massive #Democratic Party outrage over the #HunterBiden plea deal that 100% does not exist because it's not a lunatic fucking cult of revanchist rednecks looking for excuses to murder people.
So, in the last election there were only 6 cases of electoral #fraud (#MattHancock has reluctantly admitted). This from a #voting population of over 45M
You'll be aware of the number of cases of fraud by #Tory MPs (from a population of 355) exceeds this in nominal terms & is vastly larger in proportional terms.
So, let be clear, #voterID is about voter suppression not fraud.
If the #Tories were interested in #democratic fraud they'd put their own house in order.
#SteveBarclay condemned the #doctors strike as being 'coordinated & calculated'.... so unlike the #Tories policy making, then.
Meanwhile, the Govt. is looking to invoke the anti-strike law on minimum service levels to 'force' doctors & #nurses to work... Well that's certainly going to to further inflame the #NHScrisis.
The right-to-strike is not only a #democratic right, without it employment starts to look more like authoritarian control than a transaction between #workers & employers!
From what I've been reading it's very important to not validate #MAGA propaganda by giving into their bullshit fear. That's a massive part of their psyop/leverage.
From what I’ve experienced on the Fediverse this past year, most of us swing Left, or Independent. (I see very few MAGA posts, for example.)
We don’t need to be scared into supporting #Democratic candidates or vision, and I’m pretty sure we will all #vote.
But - even after a disastrous four years of Trump, EIGHTY MILLION eligible voters did not show up in 2020, even though that year had a landmark turnout.

I find it interesting that the three areas affected by the #UAW#strike have trended toward the #GOP since the 1980s. Macomb County #Michigan has only voted #Democratic 4 times since 1968. It backed #Trump twice, by similar 53.5% margins. In St. Charles County #Missouri where #Wentzville is the largest city, Trump won in 2020 with 58% of the vote. #biden took Lucas County, #Ohio which is dominated by #Toledo. However, the three surrounding suburban counties went to Trump by about 60%
Voting #Uncommitted in a #Democratic primary isn’t some kind of Russian plot, unless you think Representative Rashida Tlaib is Russian. It’s her plot! Rep. Tlaib is Palestinian.
The number of Uncommitted primary votes in the Michigan primary is also why VP Kamala Harris officially backed a #Ceasefire in #Gaza in her speech in Selma on Tuesday, so it’s good for something.
In the speech in support of the ceasefire resolution, the #Democratic Florida #StateRepresentative Angie Nixon said: “We are at 10,000 dead Palestinians. How many will be enough?”
This from BBCNews #India is shocking; the abuse & humiliation of #women is endemic across the country with little evidence of any sustained attempt to address this issue.
Given India's claims around its #democratic culture, the plight of women & girls is extraordinary, inasmuch as it indicates a disconnect (as so often) between claims for a modern polity & the continuing discrimination & violence towards women.
