Milestone for floating offshore wind as world-first auction names winner and price
France has announced the winner of the world’s first commercial scale floating offshore wind auction which will see 250MW built off the coast of Southern Brittany in the country’s west.

The #UK#ElectricyDemand is currently 32 GW and of that, 25.2% is coming from #SolarEnergy, 17.1% is coming from #WindEnergy, 16.8% is coming from #NuclearEnergy and 9.9% is coming from #Biomass and only 7% is coming from #Gas. There is also a fair amount coming from continental Europe through the various interconnections.
'The research also shows that if wind turbines are sited in areas with existing roads and infrastructure, such as on agricultural land, they can be approximately seven times more efficient, in terms of energy produced per square metre of land directly impacted by the infrastructure, than projects that are developed from scratch.'
The EU installed a record 16.2 GW of wind power capacity last year, and WindEurope expects this to grow to an average of 29 GW/year in the period up to 2030.

For the 1st time in the US, turbines are sending electricity to the grid from the sites of 2 large offshore wind farms.
The joint owners of the Vineyard Wind project, Avangrid & Copenhagen Infra. PRs, announced Wed the 1st electricity from one turbine at what will be a 62-turbine wind farm 15 miles (24 kilometers) off the coast of MA.
"The U.S. Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for 40 newly-created Climate Change Fellowship positions.
The positions will be filled with the intention of assisting the record number applications from farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses seeking funding for clean energy projects under the Rural Energy for America Program.
According to the job posting on usajobs.gov, the anticipated salary for the positions will range from $57,118 to $89,835. The new positions are being funded by the Inflation Reduction Act."
