Henry is dead at the age of 100.

Here's one Cambodian's verdict
"I’m a scholar of the political economy of Cambodia who, as a child, escaped the brutal Khmer Rouge regime with four siblings...
In both a professional and personal sense, I am aware of the near 50-year impact Kissinger’s policies during the Vietnam War have had on the country of my birth."

That impact was destruction, death and trauma.

That's pure medieval state of trust in eternal life after death. They must die in order to get life. The rest of the world can observe how life in middle age must have been.

I'm in Starbucks, sampling their Christmas drinks (strawberry latte: I'm quite impressed) and attempting to knuckle down to hit the deadline for my next piece of writing, but what (based on that first line) is the genre?

Suggestions for the second line also most welcome.

I was too late for this poll (that was closed too fast?). However I choose the same as the majority voters. Not for your talent in writing. Only by my interest in Apollo ( 14 was right in dec '72) and moon stories .

1930 ies including late 1920ies ( Roaring 20ies) when germany decided to follow Hitler by public voting. Was it Black Friday at first or the deep depression before after WW1 Versailles verdict ? Why did they get tired of their new democracy (1st Weimar Republic) ? Why didn't the allies countries prevent germany from empowering their military forces ( Rhineland reoccupation)?

Since my birthday is only one week ago ( and 60 I'm too) . Not long ago I buyed the video DVD about Jackies behaviour and legacy that she called Camelot for her time in the White House. I guess it was Natalie Portman acting as Jacky.

Casket with JFK and the tiny hand of John Junior under the flag covering the coffin. Life (Time) magazine titles : President Kennedy is laid to rest
Time Life describes in full length how Jackie figured out every detail of the cerenomy. Left is a foto of her in a black costume. Right below the testimony for all condolence letters.

Another gangster is running for president in the United States.

the video in all its artificial style is distracting from a little bit boring melody. A bit of nostalgia can be expected. As I remember the tape was given to Paul by Yoko lots of decades in the past after John's death. It reminds me on the fragments of unreleased songs like the Antology project . Similiar like the group ABBA did publish s.th. in the nineties. I guess it is rather published as a testimonial or obituary than as a real song.

Last week, NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) issued a revised prediction that solar activity in the current Solar Cycle 25 will increase more quickly and peak at a higher level than that predicted by an expert panel in Dec 2019.
The updated prediction shows the cycle peak between Jan and Oct of 2024, with a max. sunspot number between 137 and 173.

Data for (11-year) previous solar cycles is also shown below. Most of them rose quickly.

France, England and other countries across Western Europe have braced for what could be some of the highest wind speeds the region has witnessed in decades as Storm Ciarán arrived on the English coast Wednesday evening.

Winds of up to 170 kilometres per hour and waves of almost 10 metres are expected in the France's northwestern tip. 1.2 million French homes are without electricity.

November 2 marks the last day of the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), the Mexican holiday that celebrates the lives of deceased friends and family. It is generally celebrated from Oct 31 to Nov 2.

The colorful holiday, celebrated in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage, focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.

NASA's Lucy spacecraft is getting ready for its close flyby of asteroid Dinkinesh this Wednesday, Nov 1, at 16:54 UTC.

Asteroid Dinkinesh is about 760 m wide; it is part of the main belt of asteroids located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Lucy will use this encounter to test its instruments and tracking systems, in preparation for its main mission of surveying 7 Jupiter trojan asteroids in 2027-2033.

I'm very excited about 's hard sails. The vessel will be transporting to the Kourou launchpad.

The semi-rigid hard sails are expected to provide a 30%-50% fuel reduction depending on the wind direction. This has huge potential to reduce emissions of maritime transport.

Engine powered off, the ship sailed at 9.4 knots at a 50° wind bearing with a 19 knots wind, which is quite impressive.

Happy 65th birthday to NASA.

NASA, as we know it, was born on Oct 1, 1958. Congress passed the National Aeronautics and Space Act on July 16 and President Eisenhower signed it into law on July 29, 1958. NASA became operational on Oct 1, with a staff of 8,240 and a budget of $340 million. T. Keith Glennan was the first NASA administrator.

NASA’s creation was triggered by the Soviet Union’s 1957 launch of Sputnik.
