On the festival the past weekend we had a few people in our group who asked things like: "do you BELIEVE in global warming?" "why would you ever trust the COVID vaccine?" and much more of these kind of questionable questions

I did not expect it from those certain people so that was a major bummer. One of them even works on a school so not a great example to have walking around

So I was battling with wannabe fascist the whole weekend, kinda super tiring

mbrailer,
@mbrailer@mstdn.social avatar

@stux Global warming isn't something one believes in. There's a huge body of data collected since the 1970's, and any honest analysis of that data points to the conclusion that global average temperatures are rising.

And I would trust the covid vaccine for the same reason I trusted all the other vaccines I've had since childhood: I'm still here, some six decades on, happily free from smallpox, polio, measles, seasonal flu -- oh, and covid.

The verdict is unprecedented, and it shouldn't have been.

In 1974 President Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon for any crimes that he might have committed against the United States as president.

By doing so, the USA was denied the opportunity to see plain as day that no one is above the law.

How much nobler a nation would the USA be today if he had put on trial? Would Trump have dared run for office in a nation that held criminals to justice, even presidents?

Pff what a day :sad_cat:

Hello and a good meowing :nkoWave:

This morning I woke up with a massive pain in my stomach that kept getting worse

With a bit of panic we rushed to the first aid but there they refused to help me since I had to go to the "doctor first" and take an asprin :nkoFacepalm2: (someone should lose their job)

So when looking for an alternative I could not hold it anymore and we called the ambulance on the parking place

So I went in the ambulance to the hospital today

Despite their personal appeals for support, RFK Jr. and Donald Trump respectively received only 19 (2%) and 6 (<1%) votes in the Libertarian Party’s first round balloting for presidential nominee. They’re both eliminated from further contention.

    Note that the nightmare scenario most commonly invoked to promote laws concerning bathrooms is men in women's bathrooms, rarely the opposite.

    Also, modern fashion has given women a lot of freedom to wear men's-style clothing, but men don't get the same. People seem to expect men to look like men and some get very set off when they don't.

    I have just discovered that those odd waste/recycling bins that are all over the oldest bits of Bergen, Norway, link to an UNDERGROUND PNEUMATIC WASTE TRANSPORT SYSTEM. The waste collects for a bit and then WHOOSH... it's off to the recycling centre. All underground. No bin lorries (garbage trucks), fewer road vehicles, less noise... amazing. @davidho says that my (considerable) excitement about this is entirely unreasonable. I disagree.

    mbrailer,
    @mbrailer@mstdn.social avatar

    @freequaybuoy I'm thinking that the Nazis wouldn't have opened the ark in Hitler's presence. They only wanted to "carry the ark before (them)," as Brody put it, to prevail in war.

    It was always Belloq's plan to open the ark privately and experience God, whether in Berlin or on the island. He tricks Dietrich into allowing it by telling him they have to make sure they have the "one true ark" before presenting it to Hitler.
