The United States remains one of only half a dozen U.N. member states that have yet to ratify the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The treaty was signed by President Jimmy Carter in 1977, but no steps toward ratification have ever been taken. Meanwhile, the gap between the rich and the poor in this...
In lists of state parties to globally significant treaties, the United States is often notably absent. Ratification hesitancy is a chronic impairment to international U.S. credibility and influence.

Professor Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI,” is “very worried about AI taking lots of mundane jobs.” That’s why he has advised U.K. government officials that universal basic income would be a very good idea. BBC News talks to Hinton about who would benefit most from AI, who would suffer from it, and the emerging human-extinction threats facing humans. https://flip.it/QBBzZB #Tech#Technology#Human#Extinction#AI
I've had a few requests for different badges in the same style as my “Powered” and “Made by a Human” badges.
I’m thinking about taking these and a few more requests and selling them in packs containing 8 badges in 8 different colors in 88x31 PNG and SVG @ £2 (minimum donation)
If you have any requests for these badges, please let me know in the replies and I will add it to the list!
"#AI has the capacity to conjure convincing human simulacra from trillions of bytes of data; and, by doing so, to upend centuries of assumptions around truth, identity and our shared experiences of reality."
"We should make it a mark of shame, not pride, when you make your AI more #human." #DanielDennett
Totally hooked on Professor @aquigley#keynote at #EverythingOpen today - it's all about #interfaces and #HCI - and about #sensors - and how they can be used for secondary purposes to those originally designed - and at the end of the day we are all #human - and this limits the attention we have for input.
Super interesting!
Paper references are on Prof Quigley's Google Scholar:
Grab my badge pack for FREE (or pay as much as you want to help fund future stuff)
Show visitors to your site that your content is human made and doesn't use AI!
The pack contains 64 88x31px PNG and SVG badges in 8 colors and phrases “made by a human, drawn by a human, human content, written by a human, I am not a robot, never by ai, human content, there's no ai here!”
The Taliban’s announcement that it is 🔥resuming publicly stoning women to death🔥 has been enabled by the international community’s silence, human rights groups have said.
Safia Arefi, a lawyer and head of the #Afghan#human#rights organisation 🔸Women’s Window of Hope🔸, said the announcement had condemned Afghan women to return to the darkest days of Taliban rule in the 1990s.
“With this announcement by the Taliban leader, a new chapter of private punishments has begun and Afghan women are experiencing the depths of loneliness,” Arefi said.
“Now, no one is standing beside them to save them from Taliban punishments. The international community has chosen to remain silent in the face of these violations of women’s rights.”
Emma Goldman: "Poor human nature, what horrible crimes have been committed in thy name! The greater the mental charlatan, the more definite his insistence on the wickedness and weaknesses of human nature.
Yet, how can any one speak of it today, with every soul in a prison, with every heart fettered, wounded, and maimed? John Burroughs has stated that experimental study of animals in captivity is absolutely useless.
Their character, their habits, their appetites undergo a complete transformation when torn from their soil in field and forest. With human nature caged in a narrow space, whipped daily into submission, how can we speak of its potentialities?
Freedom, expansion, opportunity, and, above all, peace and repose, alone can teach us the real dominant factors of human nature and all its wonderful possibilities."
Emma Goldman in "Anarchism: What It Really Stands For" (1910)

Each one of my #LimitedEdition#Handmade#Human illustrated #Bitcoin#GreetingCard sets will be numbered with a nostr note ID and stamped with my seal.
Note IDs are long, but inmutable, searchable, & recorded #forever in the nostr protocol, so the note ID will be included on the box (for a set), or in a separate tag inside the card (for individual cards).
I will be limiting sets to 21 sets of 12 cards.
Hence the need to number and record them for posterity in #Nostr.
I will also limit individual cards, but I'm unsure to how many.
Why limited edition:
Because they do take time to make. I do invest energy, time, love, creativity in making them. I also want to remain creative. Limiting the output will force me to innovate and continue designing different ones, keeping me challenged and getting my brain juices flowing.
Where will they be available?
Plebeian.market when I open my stall. I will have information about my cards on my website as well, but primarily for informative purposes. isabelsydow.art
Will you accept Fiat?
I don't think so. The truth? It will depend on your constraints & the situation. I will work with you, but I honestly am trying to contribute to the bringing of a Bitcoin #economy & I don't want us to perpetuate the eternal #violence of #fiat.
Why won’t the U.S. ratify the U.N.’s child rights treaty? (www.washingtonpost.com)
The non-ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child is hypocritical.
