Many #engineering products are necessarily complex, last a long time, and are compatible with other products. But #compatibility and #longevity are not attained by simply mashing parts passively selected out of catalogues, they have to be actively designed, manufactured, and updated.

The same is true with lasting #marriages.

Happy Patch Tuesday to those that celebrate!

Also, I have been wondering, as code bases go, might Windows be the one with the largest number of critical CVEs?

cazabon,

@jerry

Besides the sheer size of the , Windows' fanatical to backwards means there's a lot of really old code still in use. I suspect code written 20+ years ago is fairly likely to contain security problems that would never get written today.

Wind energy is clean, it lowers energy bills for households and businesses, and it is generated in our Union.

It a strategic sector and it must remain a European success story.

This why we presented a Wind Power Action Plan to make the industry grow at home and compete globally.

The EU target of at least 42.5% renewable energy by 2030 will require a massive increase in installed renewable capacity.

Wind energy is decisive to reach this goal.

Espechally since Energy demand will only increase.

Also electricity could be long-term stored with and that can replace in emergency setups in lieu of , reducing whilst retaining a lot of in terms of since is a pain in the rear to handle...

> The game has PASSED the Hardware/Software Compatibility and Performance Check with a great majority of systems obtaining excellent performance results.

If you have been using and you wanna jump ship to the nearest competitor, is gonna be your best bet. The structure of a project isn't exactly the same, but it's similar enough that it won't take long to adjust.
Below, I'll give a few tips and talk about pain points you might run into, to help you try it out properly, and make an evaluation.

kkarhan,

@Fenreliania yeah.

It's mostly a issue to some extend, but since it's MIT-licensed that is somewhat mitigateable and was founded specifically to provide this as a commercial option whilst funding the core engine development and backporting stuff that isn't covered by 's like ...

So I do hope that they'll be able to fill that gap like did where the platform holders just provide a "license key" to unlock their .

Extra-features (disabled by default) is somewhat confusing in .
This option allows to enable features that doesn't support (quotes, reactions, submit messages in a specific format, etc.)
But softwares like , , , don't support (currently) same features.

We plan to use to automatically enable features depending on the user's instance (ie: software).

tallship,

has proven invaluable to me and also many of the public Fediverse databases, for example, with things like:

  • The particular MRF settings implemented for a particular instance
  • Fingerprinting exactly which platform and version is being examined
  • How many local users have accounts on the instance
  • Average number of posts in various different perspectives - total, per user, this period, Etc.
  • Whether or not the instance is operated by Good, sharing Fedizens or people that choose not to disclose.

A for this can go a long way toward stabilizing this defacto standard as dejure.

's commitment to support the most popular platforms such as , , , , , , , , , and other, unnofficially supported platforms like is commendable, and Nodeinfo is a great way to enter into the foray of deterministically providing the users with that support.

It also encourages instance operators to make this information public - as it should be in almost all cases.

Anyone got any experience with GraalPy? https://www.graalvm.org/latest/reference-manual/python/

"Python 3.10 compliant runtime" claiming a 3-4x performance boost over cPython once the JIT has warmed up

It's under Oracle's Universal Permissive License which looks GPL-like, and apparently has OSI approval https://opensource.org/license/upl/

michitux,

@simon Reading https://www.graalvm.org/latest/security-guide/polyglot-sandbox/#compatibility-and-limitations, I'm not sure sandboxing is available for Python and unless I missed something, sandboxing isn't available in the open source community edition.
