If someone could try to takle this bug, I would highly appreciate that.

I'm planning to write an updated homelab guide on my blog this year but I think I'm about to rebuild some parts for a new purpose 😅
It might be time to try out OpenCTI given what I do in my lab should be representative of what I do during < dayjob >. That also means I need to tear down Wazuh and configure an ELK stack instead (resource constraint). #Homelab#ELK#CTI#ThreatIntel#elasticsearch
If you create a post on a stock Mastodon server that contains Markdown, the raw Markdown (plain text) gets saved and federated. It will only display as formatted text on clients that know how to render Markdown (e.g. Elk, but neither stock nor glitch-soc Mastodon).
If you create a Mastodon post that contains Markdown formatting on a glitch-soc Mastodon server, the server translates the Markdown to (sanitized) HTML before saving and federating the post. Every client that can render HTML post content (all?) will display formatted text to the reader.
When Elk presents to the reader a formatted post that was created against a glitch-soc server, it presents the formatted post based on the received HTML. When Elk presents a Markdown post created against a stock server, it is interpolating Markdown (if any) that it sees in the retrieved post. The post appears formatted either way, but the underlying mechanics differ.
On a glitch-soc server, Markdown is only interpreted at the time the post is created, not when it is presented. So you may see both raw and formatted Markdown in your feed, depending on where the toot came from.
phanpy.social is cool, very well-designed, but after trying it for a couple days I still think I prefer Elk. Phanpy is just too slow. Every action has several seconds of lag, especially after scrolling for a while. And this makes it completely unusable on mobile.
I wonder if this is related to their tech stacks. Phanpy uses Preact, Elk uses Vue. React sites always feel slow. I'm not very familiar with Vue, but this is a point in favor of it. Elk always feels snappy.
Ok, this is really bizarre. I just posted (and immediately deleted) a toot about the fact I couldn't see any boosts at all in my home feed via the #Mastodon web client, whereas I can see them in #Elk & #Tusky.
I thought this could be related to a recent issue I've had where I could see some boosts, but not all, in the web client
Right after posting this I thought about checking the settings of the home feed, and both "show boosts" and "show replies" were disabled! I've never touched these...
The two main microblogging families are Mastodon and Misskey (with all their respective forks). If you really prefer the former you should try the MozillaSocial instance. The backend is a fork of Mastodon and the frontend is a fork of Elk.
Does anyone know of a #Mastodon web app that allows for both a) creating hashtag groups and b) following Instances other than my own? Basically, adding some of the killer features of @IceCubesApp but in web app I can use on multiple Windows desktops.
I am using @elk and I really love it but just wanted to explore some more. Or perhaps Elk might be looking to add those in the future?
Gibt es eigentlich einen guten (!) Grund, warum https://elk.zone/ nicht schon das standard-Design von #mastodon geworden ist? Das atmet so angenehm dieses - Zukunft. #elk
Also as a reminder for the #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon users here, we have Elk running on both sites if you want something a little bit different when it comes to your website style.
You can now hover with your cursor over emojis on #elk 🚀
This increases accessibility and also sometimes there are custom emojis you might not know what they represent :ablobcatattention:
