@mp362@RockyC Thing with Nemo, for me, was that I couldn’t get used to the sorting options of (dot) files and folders. But then again #Linux allows you to plug in any file manager you want! It just baffles me how much good #FOSS software is out there.
#LMDE6 will also be released this summer based on #debian Bookworm. I just wonder when this will be the flagship distro (in favor of current Ubuntu-based #LinuxMint).

We need #FLOSS tools to get to the point where they can replace Adobe tools. Open alternatives are great, but they are sadly not there yet to replace Adobe tools for professionals.
And won't be unless projects like @inkscape get enough funding to develop to a point of being viable alternatives.
@rysiek Adobe's licensing tactics make me so mad. Every time I have had to reinstall or transfer software from Adobe it has been a major hassle. The benefits being a monopoly, I guess. I am trying to learn @darktable so I can ditch Lightroom. I would much rather send my $$ to a #FOSS project.

I am always on the lookout for good open source art programs. Medibang Paint has been pretty decent for my samsung tablet (Free). Clip Studio Paint has a $5 sub on mobile. It has been ok.
Its harder to find decent FOSS art programs. Blender3d is what I learned on, and is in many ways better than Maya. GIMP/Glimpse UI is still wonky.
But unfortunately, as long as companies think Adobe is the standard, they'll keep forcing artists to use it.

Some people use the acronym #FLOSS (free/libre open source software) instead of #FOSS. My understanding is that the addition of "libre" is to emphasize that the "free" in FOSS doesn't necessarily mean "free of charge" but "free" as in "freedom/liberty". (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) @rysiek
EU Commission CRA drafters using the "Free and Open Source Software" term to mean "proprietary software delivered at no cost, and open source software" shows how much of a disconnect there is... and that sometimes being factually correct doesn't help.

My understanding largely comes from RMS/FSF. “#OpenSource” only refers to 1 out of the 4 freedoms, no? And if that’s true, indeed there is redundancy w/ #FOSS because “free” covers the 4 freedoms, so then to add “open source” is to repeat 1 of the 4 freedoms. iamryte?

Every single term that is in play is misleading. #FOSS, #FLOSS, #OpenSource, #FreeSoftware… all of those terms are either confusing w/redundancy or misleading. What we are really talking about is “freedom-granting software” or “freedom-respecting software”. The EU would be wise to define “freedom-respecting software” and run with it.

Ugh, Ubuntu replaced my Firefox PPA with a broken-out-of-the-box Snap again today when upgrading from kinetic to lunar.
Any recommendations on an alternative to Ubuntu for a dev-centric personal laptop? Apt-based is preferred, but I'll take anything that guarantees I'll never need to see a Snap package again.

Extract to your games folder, a folder SIGIL will be created.
Copy your DOOM.WAD or DOOMU.WAD to SIGIL/drives/c/
Double click "dosbox.conf" and open it using "DOSBox Staging.exe" in Windows.
Double click "Start DOSBox from here.command" in macOS - if macOS complains, right-click, and select "Open".
A menu will show up where you can select OPL3 or General MIDI (AWE soundfont) as your music device.

Heute, am Tag nachdem die #CoronaWarnApp schlafengelegt wurde, feiere ich, dass es einer internationalen Gruppe von Wissenschaftler:innen gelungen ist, mit #dp3t ein funktionierendes System für eine #Kontaktverfolgung zu entwerfen, die nicht auf #Überwachung basiert und Vorlage für die deutsche #CWA wurde.
Besonders danken möchte ich Marcus, Marvin und allen anderen Freiwilligen, die die offizielle CWA zur @CCTG weiterentwickelt haben, obwohl sie nichts von den 220 Millionen € abbekommen haben.
