It's on from today until 24.03., & features different tasks the rover has to perform everyday. The winning team is chosen by points & announced on the last day. This is a competition from the Australian Space Agency (ASA).
Seeing a former #master's #student presenting her #thesis as best thesis (https://github.com/PostElefant/master-thesis) at a prestigious conference makes me proud.
Investing into #young#researchers always pays off. In multiple ways. And supervision is so much more than providing a topic and grading the result. It is ultimately about coaching, encouraging and learning.
What are your experiences and attitudes towards supervision?

Anyone who follows me will know that I tend to avoid political issues on my feed; but it is difficult when such issues impact my profession and sector. The consequences were abuntantly obvious to everyone, and yet the government pressed ahead with another chaotic, ill judged policy which does nothing more than destroy a Great British success story: #HigherEducation.
please help octo! she still needs anything she can get to continue paying off her debt. her safe housing depends on this payment, she's at high risk for homelessness. anything helps!
Today, President Biden announced the approval of $1.2 billion in student debt cancellation for almost 153,000 borrowers currently enrolled in the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) repayment plan. The Biden-Harris Administration has now approved nearly $138 billion in student debt cancellation for almost 3.9 million borrowers...
My girlfriend is working her ass off going back to college to help get out of the trap she's currently in, but caring basically entirely for herself as a blind woman is not cheap! Food, transit, bills, and any savings necessary to actually get out of the trap are constant strains on her, and I'm not particularly well-off myself! I really would say she's a true diamond in the rough, one of the most caring, compassionate, and resilient people I've ever met. Please don't let her potential go to waste in the ever-present purpose of the system to suck the money out of you and leave broke people to die.
We're hoping to get up to between $1000 and $1500, but every little bit helps! Even $5-20 might help pay for a meal that day.

Thought I would share this little clip of a cobalt blue xenon wriggler Yorky bent the other day. Yorky has been in #NYC for the past few months from Copenhagen and I have been giving him some #neon bending lessons. He has developed a taste for large tubes and xenon.
After a few days and a bunch of broken fancy glass, he got this one to survive. I bombarded it and filled it with enough #xenon to need a little grounding help to stay on.
Am using #GIS ( @qgis in particular) to offer insight into some #student trends ... attendance, achievement, all sorts of things. We started this with COVID to try to try to get ahead of outbreaks, but continue to explore other uses. For example, It's helped to place various supports in appropriate places within the community for students who may have transportation challenges. Any other interesting ideas for #schools and #education? @edutooters@edutooter
I had just dropped my housemate at work, and arrived back home. I went around to the back of the car to get some things out, and walked on the grass. I actually looked to see if there were bees or bindis, and was thinking about how lovely the grass is by the car port, and how I wish the rest of our grass was so soft and lush.
By the time I got to the front door, my second toe right foot was HURTING. I was trying to remember if I stepped on a stone or something, I'm usually really good at noticing things like that, especially since being a diabetic means you have to be careful with your feet.
I got into the house and sat down to have a look at my toe, now worried it was a spider bite because it was so sore, and could see a tiny little black spot sticking out. I thought it was a bindi so I sort of scratched it out of my foot with my fingernail - rookie error.
It was the bee sting, and scratching it out like that pushed the rest of the venom into my foot. If you find a bee sting you should use the edge of a knife blade to scrape it out so you don't squeeze the venom sac.
Once I had a closer look at the sting and realised what it was, I took a huge dose of antihistamines and popped some steroid cream on the site because I'm allergic to bees.. they worked, and I'm ok, just a bit phlegmy and a slight BP drop (102/58), but no anaphylaxis.
The pain has moved from the burning fire in the toe to a generalised ache in the whole foot and all I want to do is curl up and sleep for like 13 hours.
I was supposed to write today.. do you think I can email my lecturer and explain that my work might be late because I got stung by a bee and that's about all I can handle for one day?
If a black or brown #student got caught planning a mass #shooting at a house of #worship, I guarantee he wouldn't get off with a suspended sentence and a #bookReport. I'm all for restorative #justice, but the double standard this has illuminated is pretty stark.
