Whenever I read a news article that includes something like:
"The traffic accident has now been cleared, according to a police department post on X," I think it sounds as ridiculous as ""The traffic accident has now been cleared, according to a police department post on Truth Social."
It's unbelievable to me how these organizations can continue to believe they sound legit on X. If you want me to trust your info, use a real platform, not a Nazi cosplay forum.
I'm surprised to see so many folks still post links to X/twitter threads. (not common here but on other platforms/forums)
They obviously don't care about moral/ethical issues with X, but they also must not realize access to threaded replies is restricted to logged in users!
Many folks deleted their accounts long ago (🙋🏻♀️) & Nitter no longer works (right?) so I don't know how to see more than the first post of any X thread.
since Apartheidboi rebranded #Xitter, and seems hell bent on destroying anything related to Twitter; is it an abandoned trademark? even if not, can tweet be transformed into a generic term for microblogging?
Self-described "free speech absolutist" #ElonMusk's X Corp sued the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), a public-interest non-profit that analyzed the effects of Musk's X/Twitter policy changes. (Spoiler: they drastically increased hate of all types on the platform.)
A judge has just dismissed Musk's suit, saying it's a transparent attempt to squash #FreeSpeech and chill criticism.
The other day, I sent an email to GeekWire with examples of how their competitors in the tech news industry are killing it on Mastodon while they can't be bothered to quit enabling fascism.
It's a fun hobby that brings a smile to my face. I suggest you try it.
> X Corp. hat das Center for Countering Digital Hate verklagt. Die gemeinnützige Organisation hatte Hassrede und fehlende Moderation auf X kritisiert. Ein US-Gericht hat die Klage nun abgewiesen - und dafür klare Worte gefunden.
If everybody on #xitter who I follow here via https://bird.makeup could just move to #threads, that would be cool. we'll get ya over to a full featured #fediverse server eventually.
Andy Ngo using #Xitter to out left wing protesters that are then added to kill lists by right wing paramilitary groups? #Musk "Let me promote this guy's content"
LibsOfTikTok using #Xitter to target children's hospitals who receive subsequent bomb threats? #Musk "Okay by me."
Liberal activists outing a literal Nazi cartoonist on #Xitter. #Musk "THIS SHALL NOT STAND!"
I do realize how challenging it is to, firstly, explain WHY the centralized, algorithmic, surveillance, corporate platforms are a bad thing...
And since this first point barely ever sinks in, it's even harder to explain WHY they should then give up on their learned socmed helplessness and actually do a bit of work setting up a #Fediverse account and learning how that works.
