"Here in Australia, as in a number of other countries, a misleading campaign has been led by unelected and unrepresentative organisations claiming to represent the Jewish community. Most of these organisations are uncritical defenders of successive Israeli governments with close connections to Israeli intelligence agencies.
The key claim of these unrepresentative organisations has been that the opposition and protests against the Israeli army’s war in Gaza is led by ‘antisemites’, and that many of the students and other participants in the protests are ‘antisemitic’."
"I was ... deeply surprised and deeply disturbed when I heard that Australian vice-chancellors were going to follow in the footsteps of heads of American universities in calling the police to dismantle student encampments at Australian universities.
"Last Saturday, the Minnesota Republican Party formally endorsed Royce White, a former NBA basketball player, to be the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate."
As Judd Legum and Tesnim Zekeria report, White wrote in 2022 that "many of the Jewish people have lost their faith in a loving God," and their faith has been replaced by "materialism."
"Clear majorities of respondents say they back peaceful pro-Palestinian demonstrations and ‘an immediate ceasefire,’ but 61% feel the protests ‘crossed the line into antisemitism’"
A quick reminder to all that if you say "I support Jews but not Zionists", this is still a form of antisemitism, because:
Being against "Zionism" means you are against the existence of the state of Israel, and being for its destruction means the death or forced expulsion of 7 million Jews
It's part of the "Good Jews/Bad Jews" trope
That being against >80% of any group is ultimately indistinguishable from hate for that group.
I just stumbled onto something horrifying, neo-Nazi symbolism seemingly hidden away in #Unicode. The first Unicode #Hebrew codepoint, corresponding to א, is u05D0. The integer corresponding to the hex? 1488. You can't convince me that was a mere coincidence.

The US Senate is expected to vote soon on the Antisemitism Awareness Act.

Thought crime fascism and persecution of academics are resplendent in "free speech" US, with famed historian Ilan Pappe detained and grilled at Detroit Airport. He's not the "right" kind of Jew for the US fash. #Fascism#Antisemitism#StopArmingIsrael#ZionismIsWhiteSupremacism
The US media vilifies liberal universities as if they were the bastions of antisemitism. But these universities are the safest places for Jews only second to synagogues. The far-right has been successfully attacking universities in red states and is now using antisemitism (any criticism of Israeli policies and solidarity with Palestinians) to crack down on academic freedom in blue states. They care very little about real #antisemitism.
Learn why this concerning trend isn’t just a matter of concern to the Jewish community, but a direct threat to democracy and national security. Gain insights into how the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. government in general, are addressing Jew-hatred around the world and why a comprehensive, whole-of-society approach is more critical now than ever before.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be informed, engaged, and empowered to counter antisemitism.
Woman pleads guilty to conspiring with neo-Nazi leader to attack energy grid
A Maryland woman admitted to scheming with a neo-Nazi leader from Florida to destroy electrical substations surrounding Baltimore in an attack that she told a confidential FBI source would be “legendary” and “probably permanently completely lay this city to waste.”
“…For students and faculty exercising their right to academic freedom including the freedom to protest? Or for those who require a militarized system of surveillance and policing in order to feel “comfortable” in maintaining a status quo that has continued for far too long?”

The counter-protestors at #UCLA included a large number of bona fide antisemites. Their only care for Jewish safety is how to exploit it for political gain.
What I witnessed that Tuesday night chilled me to the bone - one of the men named in this article screamed at me and my colleague that white supremacy will rule and white violence will come. We were standing on the sidelines as observers.
Acknowledging the mutual will to #genocide between #likud and #hamas is not any kind of #antisemitism It is just demonstrable historical fact. I'm going to stand over here and insist on Israel's right to exist, and Palestine's right to exist. If that makes me an outsider to those who want to fight and see entire peoples erased from the Earth, I'll take it with great pride.
A social media post expressing concern for Jews targeted in a pogrom is enough to qualify one as “Zionist.”
““This list, coupled with the many ways in which our authors have been targeted — review bombing, Jewish book event cancellations, online abuse and harassment, censorship — is deeply troubling, and is a part of our concerns about wider scale antisemitism in the literary world, and more generally,” she said.” #Antisemitism#Jews#Jewish#Books
