Ok fedi hivemind, #advice requested. I have to carry around a fairly sizeable number of pills in my pocket for extended periods, more than can be handled by a keychain pill bottle. I have been just using an old pill bottle, but these pills are tablets not capsules and the motion of them in my pocket is slowly but surely rendering them into dust. Any suggestions? My company has just announced that there will be a round of layoffs soon. They just laid off a bunch of C-levels. They're giving us the opportunity to "opt in" to "workforce reduction" with a promise of three months severance.
It's been pretty tumultuous here, lately, to be honest, and I'm considering it.
But, I've got a wife and four kids to take care of, and I've never willingly left a job when I didn't have another one already lined up. And we've got good benefits (healthcare and dental) right now, so I really don't want to give that up.
Maybe if I had something lined up with similar pay and benefits, I could do it.
So, I'm looking for any recommendations. I'm a #PHP developer (of roughly twenty years), who has been doing a lot of #golang for the past year, and I've gotten very proficient at that as well.
I'm looking for a US-based company, and a Principal/Staff/Senior Developer role.

Say, you have a software project. To do some operations more quickly, you write helper scripts. Think build.sh, download_dependencies.py, whatever. You may use them yourself or in CI.
What is your directory name of choice for these scripts?
In another era I could have been a revered polymath and wit, beloved of the salons of Europe and with the ear of kings. But since I hate writing things out longhand and I don't like socialites, it's probably best that I would in all likelihood have died in infancy.

Back when What Does The Fox Say was relatively new I saw a video that I think had a comment like, a naturalist's response, that paired clips from the song with the possible fox sounds to clips of actual foxes making similar sounds (yes, including Morse Code-ish sounds). Ok, I've got a question: if I'm writing alt text for a meme, how much can I rely on its memetic nature? As in, can I simply describe something as "The Geordi LaForge no/yes meme" or should I not assume that anyone who is experiencing the meme knows the meme? Is describing the meme too much a paternalistic assumption that screen reader users wouldn't know what the meme was, or is it necessary information, even though people who don't use the alt text would be given no further context? #AltText#AskFedi#BoostsWelcome
I got a computer for my kids for Christmas. I've been setting it up for them, and they really like playing retro games. So, in addition to RetroArch and a bunch of old console games, I also installed @scummvm with a handful of adventure games that I've loved since I was a kid (Monkey Island, King's Quest, Maniac Mansion).
I'm looking for suggestions for other ScummVM compatible games that adventurous kids might like that may be less well known.
Any point and click adventure games you played as a kid that you could recommend?
