Looking down from a stone balcony above, the Swing Bridge over the River Tyne almost glows in the afternoon sun. Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead lives and breathes the past, present, and future.
The last wooden bridge on Route 1 along the California coast, this is the Albion River Bridge. Built in 1944, when steel and concrete were scarce, it is constructed mostly of salvaged wood. One thousand feet long, it towers over the mouth of the river and Albion Flat Beach. Local residents have resisted efforts to replace the bridge, and a group called the Albion Bridge Stewards do a lot to keep the bridge in safe operating order. #PhotoMonday#FotoMontag#Photography#Fotografie#Bridge#Albion#River
Goblins, small trolls, pixies with an attitude problem; these small creatures go by many names. The one thing they all have in common is their reticence to be seen in daylight. The little chap under this bridge could not be tempted out with a sandwich.
