The trail markers of MTB trails showcase the poetry of creation. Made by volunteers, when you ride these at the end your legs, lungs, and soul agree: 'apt'. Let's do that one more time... #biking#mtb#pnw#westwoodplateau#nature#hiking

Left a cooler of ice and sodas, and a Rubbermaid bin full of treats at the trailhead while I went out for a run yeaterday. Enjoyed by many passing thru hikers.
Chatted with people from Ireland, Germany, Canada, Scotland, Holland, England, and all over the US.

Best thing I’ve seen in a while. Of course it’s in #SantaFe#NewMexico. At the entrance to a hiking trail. The idea is when you return to your car after a hike, you pour any unused water from your water bottles into Rusty’s mouth and, well, he “pees” it onto the young tree, to water it.
I love the little details, like the hex nuts as Rusty’s toes on his paws.
Yesterday was a fantastic day of hiking and photography in Alaska. I updated a wildflower guide, captured a black-capped chickadee collecting nest material, saw my first blooming wildflower of the season (northern kittentails), and hiked Wickersham Dome, unexpectedly meeting an old friend.
Lusha's favourite walk in summer is this river trail. There's about 5km of it, looping around and back through dense forest which is lovely and cool for us in July (when this was taken).
The "interesting" trail involves scrambling over rocks, past a little waterfall, then up a steep slope into woods COVERED in wild blueberries.
Reservierung empfohlen?
I’m hanging out at the famous Blue Pool this morning eating lunch and drying out my tent. It rained a bit while I slept but was only misting by the time I was packing up. I’ve already covered a large portion of the trail last night and this morning. This trail is a gem, I love it out here. I believe the waterfall corridor is next. Just a quick post, more photos to come.
I received word via satellite that Sand Mountain has great views of the surrounding volcanos. Decided to take a last minute 15-mile side trip. First time I’ve climbed a snowy mountain but it wasn’t too hard with micro spikes. Snow was still frozen from overnight. I felt like I was on the top of the world, no one around for miles. It’s amazing we can do this.
Ranger Sarah hike up onto the lava flow. The McCartys Flow is the most recent lava flow in the Zuni-Bandera Volcanic Field, and is one of thes youngest lava flows in the Southwest. It is approximately 3,900 years old.
