Exclusive: #JaredKushner pitching donors on father-in-law #Trump, sources say
Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has been making calls to encourage donors to attend a Trump fundraiser in NY, 2 sources told @Reuters, in one of the first indications of #Kushner working to help re-elect his father-in-law.
A fmr WH adviser to #Trump 🤣, Kushner stepped away from politics after Trump's term ended in 2021 & founded Miami-based private equity firm Affinity Partners.
Per BBC: "Saudi authorities have permitted the use of lethal force to clear land for a futuristic desert city being built by dozens of Western companies, an ex-intelligence officer has told the BBC.
Col Rabih Alenezi says he was ordered to evict villagers from a tribe in the Gulf state to make way for The Line, part of the Neom eco-project.
One of them was subsequently shot and killed for protesting against eviction. " #dystopia#SaudiArabia
"The U.S. and Saudi Arabia say they’re close to a historic mega-deal. There’s just one problem."
From Vox: "Under the potential deal ... Saudi Arabia would agree to formally recognize and establish diplomatic relations with Israel, Israel would take meaningful steps toward a Palestinian state, and the U.S. would grant security guarantees to Saudi Arabia."
The US will force SaudiArabia to recognize Israel? For what? I highly doubt this. Even though the King is allegedly mentally incapacitated & physically unwell, it would internally discredit MbS & Al Saud. @saudi

Saudi women’s rights activist sentenced to 11 years in jail, rights groups say
Human rights groups are calling for the release of a Saudi woman, who they say has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for supporting women’s rights and for the way she dressed.
Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, their view of feminism continues to equate support for women's right with terrorism.
As always there is talk of a move towards better rights in Saudi, but its hard to square this narrative of improvement of the plight of women, with the continued judicial actions against females who are promoting such social change via social media.
While Nesrine Malik makes a lot of good points here about Britain's diminishing influence in the world (due to the problems we confront at home) by citing nominal GDP figures to say we're the 6th largest economy in the world, she misses the key indicator of our real economic status.
By not using GDP per capita - where we are ranked in the mid-to-low 20s - she misses a much more convincing & consistent economic context for her argument!
"Archaeologists have found evidence of human habitation within lava tubes for the first time, in the deserts of northern Saudi Arabia."
@newscientist reports the "underground tunnels created by lava flows provided humans with shelter for thousands of years beneath the hot desert landscape."
How much do rich countries owe in climate aid? That’s the trillion-dollar question.
"Developing countries are trying to use the failures of the $100 billion promise as leverage for a much bigger commitment. After years of advocacy from climate-vulnerable nations, the economic heavyweights of #India and #SaudiArabia are making a formal demand for #ClimateAid to reach $1 trillion per year, broaching a number that will send negotiations into uncharted territory."
„Governments across the Arab world called for de-escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran (…).
Iran fired about 350 rockets toward Israel (…). Nearly all the rockets were intercepted in a joint effort by Israel, Jordan* and the U.S., with minimal damage inside Israel.“
