Just as a general reminder, whether or not I wind up buying will depend upon the outcome of Leona Faren's suit against Zenimax/Bethesda. This has new information, too, out of Ms. Faren's lawsuit: to wit, after she was basically railroaded into resigning with the promise that her healthcare coverage would continue, including the costs of her transition care, that coverage was retroactively yanked. Leaving her to have to foot the bill.

Some may wonder why so many people talk about these days.

Here's why: for The Black Hole (1979), the model of the USS Cygnus was filmed in front of a starfield, not a blue screen.

Keza MacDonald called “No Man’s Skyrim” and it’s hard to think of a more perfect joke.

Morning Folks! It is the last day of and I do my best to set some expectations for how stressful "Tabulation Day" is going to be for me this year. I also talk a bit more about and also talk a little bit about dipping my toes into soon.

Some interesting/amusing things spotted in the trailer. First of all, there’s a Rage Quit button in this ship cockpit, lol.

Starfield Kickstarter

I'm working on a series of maps that should be of interest to gamers but also anyone interested in astronomy. Not only for gamers!

Some of these maps shows details out to 200 parsecs (650 light-years) that have never appeared on any of my maps before.

Watch the video here:
https://youtu.be/lgHUXqKeduc

I will not launch it until at least 1000 people have signed up to be alerted when the Kickstarter goes live on this form here:

I'm finally coming to a map that I like. This has the locations of the 120 visitable stars, nearby bright stars for context, and the locations of two important star density regions: the Ursa Major moving group and the Tucana-Horologium association.

Hopefully future mods or expansions can visit some of those locations.

I might sell a high resolution printable pdf plus a few other relevant maps through a KIckstarter for ten bucks or something.

Want to avoid major damage during dogfights?

it turns out that the AI tries to target the center mass of the ship.

it calculates that by centering on the width and length of the ship profile.

so as an experiment, I hung a big ass arm off port side.

now my enemies just shoot into dead air and I take zero damage in the initial joust as I barrel-roll starboard.

A kind person supplied me with some of the star data used in .

It appears that all the stars in the game are real! 🤩

Some of the distances are outdated and a lot of the names were made up to make them more interesting. But still, good job Bethesda Studios !

Starfield – released just last week – is one of the most anticipated in recent history – and its soundtrack is epic.

It’s just one example of how video games are drawing people to symphonic music like never before.

Not sure if it’s hit Mastodon the same way it’s hit Bird App, but there’s some more pronoun hysteria, this time about Starfield. Here’s a video on it:

In , a colony ship which launched from Earth after the year 2100 opted to use Macintosh Classic IIs, discontinued in 1993 but seemingly upgraded by these colonists to hold two floppy drives.

For reference on the mass given in the image, the original Classic II weighed 16 pounds / 7.3 kilos.
