The problem when N gets so screamy is that I lose the will to do shit like make dinner. (I'm not saying I won't make dinner - I'm not that kind of asshole parent - just that it becomes incredibly hard to do so.)

I feel for her - hormones on top of everything else are a thing - but I'm pretty much always the collateral damage.

Ugh, colds suck.

Oh just... fuck it all and everything to hell.

Despite being cautious... Teen has tested positive for covid. Which means no surgery for them on Saturday (I can't imagine the doctor would okay surgery on someone who is positive with a virus, I would absolutely say I am not okay with that).

Now the scramble begins of what is the safest course of action forward.

I just... I tried to play like I was okay with it (the trip), but I knew this was gonna happen.

I just realized that the Dutch view of Southern Dutch as dumb lazy hedonistic layabouts is because the south is catholic and that view is informed by a historical protestant/calvinist view of the catholic way of life and I'm pretty sure nobody has ever informed me of this before and now I'm wondering if anyone is actually aware of it at all

So, my kid is away for a few days with some friends. They planned a covid cautious trip, driving there and getting an Airbnb.

The host cancelled on them a few hours before they were to check in. They are having a meltdown (don't blame them).

My grandmother (who is generally not well) has covid.

If you need me I'll be in the blanket cocoon, in the fetal position, crying.

Random Public Service Announcement: The #ActuallyAutistic hashtag means the author of the post containing that hashtag is an actually autistic person, as opposed to a relative, caregiver, or practitioner who is not autistic. It came about because autism-adjacent folks kept speaking over us, and we needed a way to identify when an autistic person was speaking for themself. The hashtag says nothing about whether someone has an official diagnosis, only about whether they identify as autistic. It is not correct for an allistic (non-autistic) person to use the #ActuallyAutistic hashtag to describe an autistic person - #autistic is a perfectly cromulent hashtag for that.
