Mastodon certainly has a lot of creative, unique apps. You can definitely find a fit just for you.

But I think the #Threadiverse is having it's own golden era right now with a plethora of choices for us finicky #Fediverse users. The best list I could find for #Lemmy is attached, but it's still missing a few newcomers, like @bean

Nothing near as comprehensive for #kbin yet (the API is still getting it's legs) but there is the amazing @ArtemisApp

I've been listening in on the #FediForum today when I can and it was mentioned that the BBC is floating the idea of using more ActivityPub platforms beyond Mastodon.

@pixelfed was mentioned as a possible way to internally manage and share media that comes in from their teams. Awesome!

If you're attempting to build an #ActivityPub note that will end up creating Mastodon's new #HashtagBar, "last line" is actually the last element of the content.

It must be wrapped in an element like a <span>, <div> or <p> and only contain <a hrefs>(?). In addition, the hrefs must have a # directly before the <a> or as the first character in each <a> tag.

Is this spelled out anywhere? Hope this helps someone.

I spent some time this weekend fiddling with @Edent tiny ActivityPub server. This isn't production code, rather a lab exercise.

In short - This was fun. It’s easy to read the code and breaking it has no major effect on anyone else. Go have fun, hit it with hammers, destroy it, recreate it. Don’t be scared to play and learn.

If you tried @mammoth previously, I'd recommend taking another look today as version 2.0 is released. It feels like it has been rebuilt from the ground up. There are some new interesting features, like the Smart Lists that are curated by people, not algorithms. Also - it's finally going open source tomorrow!

Final thoughts from one of the founders of Pebble. Pebble was full of kind people. The hobbit shire of social media. And it wasn't enough. A good read.

A new fediverse iOS app called fedicat @technicat (TestFlight) has a feature I’m calling “bloosts” which is a boost and a like in one button. I love it.

Now I want a “bloostmark” that boosts, likes and bookmaks a post at the same time. 😅

I’m starting to get intrigued by a new category of social media app. The idea is to not only to support fedi platforms with Mastodon compatible APIs, but also additional platform specific features like emoji reacts in Misskey, or even Nostr and Bluesky if you’re into that.

Instead of jumping from app to app, you view all content without losing the unique aspects of each.

Ah, I got clarification on the Threads tie in with ActivityPub. Initially, as a test, Threads will be delivering a few specific accounts through ActivityPub.

Here's the kicker - it's one way for now. We can see the posts, but any interactions with that post in the Fediverse isn't pushed back to Threads.

A toe dip of an entrance rather than a cannonball. Which I think is for the best.

#TIL about a new opensource #ActivityPub event manager called Gathio built by @lown

Events are created as Fediverse Actors (an account you can follow) and auto-destruct 7 days after the end of your event!

Additionally, there's some unique interactions built right into conversations you can have with the account - for example, the account bot can ask if you are attending via a Poll (Yes/No) and then register you if you say Yes!
