Push to recognise Palestine statehood wins more support

On Tuesday, The Bahamas announced that it had decided to recognise Palestine as a state. Five countries in the European Union are also reportedly considering the move: Ireland, Spain, Slovenia, Malta and Norway. Jamaica recognised it in April. Currently, 139 of the United Nations' 193 member states recognise Palestinian statehood…

Fun fact: I've been a software engineer for 23 years but I know my way around a print shop after growing up in one.

From old school light tables, shooting & developing negatives, burning plates, and running offset spot-color presses to more modern desktop publishing tech, process color, and direct-to-printer jobs. I helped my father's business through the digital transformation of that industry.

I use none of of it today but retain a fondness for typography and get twitchy about bad kerning.

@gairdeachas I’m not sure. A post apocalyptic print shop using obsolete tech sounds like a good thing. 😁

At the end of the day, COVID-19 made people realize:

  • They could work from home and that most offices are shitty places.

  • Their job was really shitty.

  • Governments could finance pretty much anything they wanted.

  • Global warming could be stopped.

  • The really important jobs were the ones that are the worst paid (nurses, for instance).

  • Most governments are run by idiots, who are in the pocket of the wealthiest.

Should anyone claim that “ethnic cleansing” is too strong a phrase to describe what the Israeli government is trying to do in Gaza, we direct you to this document, just leaked from the Israeli Ministry of Intelligence. It explicitly recommends the forcible permanent transfer of the entire Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip to the Sinai peninsula.

This is the textbook definition of ethnic cleansing—on a scale of millions of people.

I'm very excited about 's hard sails. The vessel will be transporting to the Kourou launchpad.

The semi-rigid hard sails are expected to provide a 30%-50% fuel reduction depending on the wind direction. This has huge potential to reduce emissions of maritime transport.

Engine powered off, the ship sailed at 9.4 knots at a 50° wind bearing with a 19 knots wind, which is quite impressive.

@fj It would be nice to have 100% wind powered ships. You know like we had for thousands of years. 😉 I guess this is a good step forward to end up where we were in the 19th century when all trade was 100% wind powered.

From pan-European corridors to interregional connections, we have helped build greener and sustainable ways into .

And we are up for more:
