OC I designed and rendered a couple of icons for the magazines I started, and I’d like to share some behind the scenes images with y'all. I’m also open to doing a few more of these in future.

So I 3D modelled two icons (well, illustrations rather) for the communities that I created on kbin: Industrial Design and Jewelry Design. These icons are meant to reimagine kbin’s logo in a way that's relevant to each community....

Created and rendered in Blender 4 with Cycles. All the materials are procedural, and I used Geometry Nodes for the grass, pine trees, and smoke ring.

A 3D render of a Rubik's Cube where the pieces are all roads, subway, and grassy parks. Small vehicles populate some parts of the roads, and you can see the cross-section of dirt and rock on the edges of some pieces. The camera circles around the cube slowly and accelerates to show the lighter side and darker side. Various little animations happen as the animation progresses, with cars moving, lights flashing, and more. One segment of the cube rotates back and forth on its central pivot.

Video of the 2009 eruption of Sarychev volcano. Assembled from images captured by a NASA astronaut aboard the International Space Station. The observer flies over a gigantic grey ash plume which rises from a small island in the ocean. The plume pierces the marine cloud layer and pillows up into the sky. A pyroclastic flow emerges from the base of the plume and rushes down to the coastline.
