Set up a #RaspberryPi-based #allsky camera on the backyard for a first test and, by chance, there was super strong #aurora with auroral corona (at zenith, overhead) early on Monday morning. 🤯
Popped out to the garden when I read someone's toot about the Northern Lights being visible in Northern Britain. Couldn't see them with naked eye, but long exposure, taken over town, above the hills in the north, showed the green glow...then a plane flew across the Big Dipper 😊 #NightPhotography#Photography#AuroraBorealis#Astronomy#Cymru
Last night, a dream came true - I saw and captured the Aurora Borealis (aka Northern Lights) over Rhossili Bay. I've had this location in mind for years if the conditions were right. And last night it happened!
Sometimes you just gotta sit on a bench beside the Observatory, eating fish & chips from a favoured chippy (Stefano's on Morningside Road) in a chilly -1ºC under light of a full moon whilst watching the remains of an aurora display as Orion rises.
I want Aurora and all of these gorgeous photos and moments of awe to remind us that we live on a delicate planet, hurling through space, and that this planet is our shared home and ours to nurture. I want us to remember how it renewed our connection, curiosity, presence and morale.
“There’s no place like home,” she said. “There’s no place like home.” 🌎
If the #AuroraBorealis is still spectacular tonight, I'm going to climb a hill in a dark rural area to see the lights in the sky. It's the same spot we chose to watch the comet Hale-Bopp go by. Y'all remember that? It was cool, but this . . . this is something altogether way up on the amazement scale. photo courtesy of the City of Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Absolutely mind-blown by the incredible #aurora tonight! Phone pictures from my back garden and a nearby field, in Northamptonshire. I have wanted to see this all my life, and never thought I’d manage to catch it. So happy!!! #AuroraBorealis#Physics#NerdAndProud
Environ 1h20 d’aurores boréales condensées en 41 secondes.
Les photos (un peu plus de 500) n’ont pas été prévues pour en faire une vidéo, mais c’est juste pour donner une idée du spectacle que ça peut représenter.
OMG! Did someone mention #auroraborealis ? Photos taken just this evening amid the largest geomagnetic storm for two decades. Long exposure, but all visible to the naked eye also, including the colours
With thanks to @timberwraith for letting me know it was happening. Two hours ago I was heading for bed. Once in a lifetime opportunity. So glad I didn't miss it. Thank you! 🙏🏼
#PhotoMonday
Just started to upload my images of the historic auroral display from May 10-11, 2024.
Captivating, once in a lifetime experience, specially at our latitude.
