Scientists say it is now too late to prevent the melting of the West #Antarctic ice sheet from heating caused by greenhouse gas emissions. The study -- published in Nature #Climate Change -- found that the melting of the ice will continue to accelerate even if emissions are controlled. They say the likely sea-level rise would be greater than previously assumed. But the report says we can still save the ice on the other side of Antarctica which sits on land #ClimateChange

The armed forces commander Lieutenant General Nayev is quoted as saying there were now 19 000 Russian troops mustered near one part of the border, attacking with rockets, artillery and drones. They were attempting to destroy energy, transport and industrial infrastructure, he said, but also preparing strike groups which might launch a new offensive into Ukrainian territory.

Even in France, the "green" anti-nuclear activists are given too much time and coverage. If there were ever a country that should know the ideas they advocate for are dangerous, it would be France. After all, if these crazy activists got their way ("energy sobriety" is a cute phrase for not having working lights), then the majority of the country would not have electricity anymore.

#Ukraine 's president, Volodymyr #Zelensky , is in #Bulgaria for talks on defence and security. He's thanked the prime minister Nikolai Denkov for Bulgaria's military support, which he said had saved many Ukrainian lives. On 20 Nov, 2 missiles hit a hospital in Selydove, #Ukraine. Although no MSF staff were harmed, several people in the hospital were injured and 3 people were killed.
This is the 2nd attack within a week on a hospital in Ukraine where MSF is present. #UkraineWar
The US State Dept says it's too early to say for sure whether #Israel is heeding US advice to protect civilians in its renewed offensive in #Gaza . But it did say the US had seen Israel making much more targeted requests for civilian evacuations in southern Gaza. A Gaza health official says that 31 premature babies have now been evacuated from Al-#Shifa hospital. The dir gen said 3 doctors and 2 nurses accompanied the babies to leave Gaza via #Rafah. Earlier, intnl doctors visited al-Shifa hospital, describing it as being like a death zone, with signs of gunfire and shelling and a mass grave at the entrance. (cont.)
