The European Defence Fund (EDF) is a €8 billion instrument used to finance defence-related technologies in the bloc.

In the wake of the war in Ukraine, the Commission proposed adding an extra €1.5 billion to the budget. The move still needs the member states’ and Parliament’s green light.
