Just wow.

The 1997 was 2.4C. The strongest ever recorded was 2.6C in 2015.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology currently predicts this El Nino will break that record sometime in August, then grow to 3.0C by October, and 3.2C by November.

El Niño phenomenon's wrath has unleashed devastating floods in Somalia, affecting over a million people and displacing 400k.

Displacement and livelihood loss from these floods have led to shortages of food, water, and sanitation, escalating the risk of waterborne diseases like malaria and cholera.

International support is imperative to safeguard human rights and enhance resilience in the face of ongoing and future disasters.

2024 was the globally warmest January that has been directly measured (i.e. since 1850).

It was also warmest in the ocean, 3rd warmest on land

Strong El Niño continues, but weakening & likely ends mid-year.

Very likely 2024 becomes the warmest or 2nd warmest year.
