Very useful breakdown of what's going on in Georgia, where half the country seem to be almost permanently on the streets protesting.

A 1969 letter from a Papal envoy to Vladika Danilo of Montenegro and the Littoral, with an offer of rewards for the removal of Njegoš's chapel and remains and replacing them with a big mausoleum which would house the remains of a Montenegrin woman (who would be canonised).

The Russian leader is militarizing his society and infusing it with patriotic fervor, reshaping the education system, condemning scientists as traitors, promoting a new religiosity and retrograde roles for women, and conditioning a new generation of youth to view the West as a mortal enemy in a fight for Russia’s very survival.

After this scandal, many other servicemen and volunteers began publicly refusing previous awards from the Orthodox Church.

Israeli police in Jerusalem clash with orthodox protesters demonstrating against military service.

“They want us, the orthodox people here in Israel, to go to the Israeli army. They have one intention: they want us to be not religious. Therefore, we prefer to die. We don’t mind going to prison. We prefer to die and not go to the Israeli army.”

monk Andronik originally from St Petersburg now living in monastery on Mount Athos but still very popular in Russia, speaking to his supporters:

  • After 1.5 years of sowing merciless terror on you get retaliation and you moan about “terrorist act”. Don’t you have any brains or conscience left?
  • Who started the war? It’s obvious for everyone now, and nobody is hiding this anymore, that Putin started the war already in 2014.
  • All victims of this war, both in Ukraine and in Russia, are on the hands of those who started the war, not those who are defending themselves.
  • Nobody blames Soviet Army for destroying Berlin to its foundations. This is exactly what will happen here, this is only beginning.
  • If the war goes on, there will be more victims every day, your mobilised men will not return home. They will mobilise more cannon fodder, send another 350’000. Are you sure you want it?

As Russian Orthodox church is a zealous supporter of the war, Andronik’s words may be sobering for many of his supporters.

Many Ukrainians will on Monday celebrate Christmas Day on December 25 for the first time, after the government changed the date from the Orthodox Church observance of 7 January in a snub to Russia. Ukraine passed a law in July moving the celebration to 25 December, the day when most of the Christian world marks Christmas.

So I'm signed up with the specialty medicine department of my pharmacy group. For the shots that have to be refrigerated, because they come in the mail not from the local store.

There are questions about how much support I need, because having a chronic illness can be difficult (yup). One question asks if I have a place to meditate or a worship place. I thought about having to be outside of church for almost 4 years now, which has helped me avoid Covid this entire time. But not getting real support in this area hurts.

The craziest part of the whole is that the party forcing Bibi to do this or lose his immunity from prosecution if the coalition falls apart are the ultra parties who BY LAW are exempt from all fighting and military service. Meaning they are send OTHER PEOPLES legally bound kids to carry out this mass destruction while their kids risk nothing.

I have thoughts, anecdotes and opinions.
