Ad blockers aren't just a convenience, they're a necessary first line of defense nowadays -- due to the prevalence of malvertising & various scripting attacks via social media posts. ⚔️
Back in the days of the dinosaurs, a newspaper publisher couldn't force me to pay any attention to an advertisement. I would flip flip flip pages looking for articles on the upper corners of the pages.
When television programming had 12 minutes of advertising per hour we got up for snacks and bathroom breaks. #AdBlocker

Well, as someone mentioned I rather watch a blank screen for duration of the #ad .. higher quality of life.
But realistically at that point its high time then to leave YT behind forever, and it will do #Peertube and other federated open video player alternatives good.
First they asked for cookies.
Then they asked to send notifications.
Then they asked for my location.
Then their virtual chatbot asked if I needed help.
Then they asked to disable my adblocker.
@BleepingComputer And they want me to turn off my #Adblocker - I can only laugh. Greed, hunger for power and control has broken most of the internet beyond repair.
YouTube is basically unusable with all of the ads. My time spent on there has gone way down ever since they started cracking down on ad blockers. 😆 :youtube: :ad:

I know you're not in favour of adblocking, but it's amazing how much faster the major sites - in fact, virtually all corporate-backed sites - are when you have a good one in use.
What #browser do you use? #Chrome used to be known for #speed, but isn't any more. #Firefox blows it out of the water for most things, and with an #adblocker it absolutely flies.
@cazabon@fresseng which #adblocker would you recommend for #firefox ? Looked into Brave and Vivaldi but think I’ll go back to FF (hopefully it won’t quit unexpectedly as it used to in the past).
