#Mastodon is #calm media, part eleventy billion: I clicked on a post that completely enraged me, and returned to my timeline full of inchoate plans to write something pointlessly scathing. Immediately I saw like ten people having a nice, helpful conversation about software configurations. Lost the urge to yell and continued on with my day.
I switch my home screen around each to reset my muscle memory and try to stick with the apps on the single page. All other apps have to be searched for. The only social media app I have on my phone is @MonaApp.
We had one day in the boat this year.
Between rain, and hurricane repairs, we didn't get out today. But this is what the ocean looked like (before it rained)
T-shirt at 7am. It will chill shortly, as the rising sun sucks the heat from the earth. It sure is calm on the ocean. Something swam by, perhaps an otter, sometimes a seal, depending on the tides.
I can get started on some work soon. I just bathed Maya again, actually, I gave her the shower wand to walk under while we shampooed her fur.
It's too warm inside. I started a wood fire before I realized how warm it was.
#ActuallyAutistic I need an advice about apps (not sure where I stand on the ND spectrum, but besides the point...)
I have been using calm for years to help me fall asleep, but it really starts to bug me. I need to be able to search by authors and the names of the soundscapes make no sense. What are people using?
The ocean is always so still, just before it storms. It's been windy this year, but not early in the morning.
Fog doesn't bother us, we know the harbour, and can hear the highway sounds to direct the boat, but I already tied boats down in preparation for #HurricaneLee .
Today marks my 100th day of posting here, so I figured I'd post a photo from one of my favorite places in the world. I've been going to the lake since I was a kid, and this spot has always been my favorite. It's so serene and calm at dusk, when the wind has died down and the loons are calling in the distance. It's my happy place.
As a heavy user of Calm's Sleep Stories, Headspace's Sleepcasts, and the Sleep Baseball podcast, last night I was surprised to discover AI-powered Jimmy Stewart sharing an "It's a Wonderful Life"-type story about... the tech industry? https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/05/technology/calm-jimmy-stewart-ai.html
On the bay, they were far enough away from the city to escape the noise and bustle, but close enough to watch its endless activity. It was a good perspective, one that allowed them to observe without being distracted.
