To actually block Threads, you have to be on an instance that actually blocks them. As of right now, the biggest instance that blocks Threads is masto.to
So all this talk most of you are doing, means absolutely nothing because the majority of you are still federated....
I ordered a device called a BT Speak about a week ago. It is a PDA-like device, with an 8-dot Perkins style Braille keyboard and speech output for the visually impaired.
When I got the device, it did not boot, and I contacted the company about it.
I was able to get the device working again by myself rather quickly, however here in lies the reason for my post.
The company were so quick to respond that a replacement unit is already on the way.
After some discussion, what has been decided is that I will be donating the replacement device, brand new, to a visually impaired child who may not be able to procure assistive technology via other means.

I do not actually know many parents of visually impaired children in the UK. So, I would be very appreciative if one of you kind souls would point me in the right direction to find someone who could make use of it.
The device usually retails for £1400, not including VAT and import fees, all of which shall be paid for.

So much for “the Fediverse is an open place that embraces diversity and mutual respect where everybody should feel safe”.
The reason that could happen is a consequence of one of the core problems that fedi doesn't solve: servers controlled by admins.
Hence we need even less centralisation of the levers of power, and increased choice and autonomy for users. I'm hopeful #p2p will do this and that 2024 will be the year we see the beginnings of that.
#Fedi was a step in the right direction but never going to solve these issues using traditional servers.
I can't wait to not be effected AT ALL by whatever Meta decides to do with Threads Federation...
It just won't effect me or the way I use Fedi one bit.
Let them adopt Fedi features and then turn off federation....who cares? It'll be their loss...🤷♂️I'll federate till they give me a reason not to. And when they do, it won't bother nor effect me in any way.
That's the beauty of Fedi. Them federating or not changes nothing about how I use Fedi.

I'm married nudist/naturist for more than 10 years. I like being naked and enjoy clothes-free lifestyle. Sometimes, we go to a nudist/naturist beach (if there is any in our loction) to skinny dip and chill in fresh air.

Better start looking for a Sharkey compatible iOS app I guess....IceCubes doesn't seem to support it, even though Sharkey claims to use the Mastodon API, I guess that's not enough for seemless app usage....😬
