I'm rewatching #Deadloch and it's even funnier the second time. While it clearly has very specific Australian cultural touchstones, if you're from any small town in the Western world, it still feels very familiar. You've known people like this. The clash of modern sensibilities and conservative small town mentality will resonate with people, even if they aren't from Australia. It's also a great #murdermystery with clever twists and turns. I hope a second series happens.
@AEMarling I just finished your #Solarpunk#MurderMystery “Murder in the Tool Library” and it’s stunning ☀️☀️ I thoroughly enjoyed this vision of the future and recommend it to those interested in both the solarpunk & mystery genres. Love what you’re doing & thank you so much for gifting it. Very much looking forward to your next one 👏📚 #bookstodon
Just pushed out a new version of "Murder Most Foul", my 7DRL submission from 2023, where you solve a procedurally generated mystery by searching the mansion for clues and deducing the murderer using a logic puzzle.
This new version has a few bug fixes for some issues reported by the intrepid krzhang.
In vibrant south-east London, a group of grannies stand guard. Baz, Peggy, Carole, and Madge bring new meaning to the phrase ‘femme fatale’: they knit, drink tea, and dole out death to keep their community safe.
I kinda want to write a murder mystery about a middle-aged woman who moves from her big-city professional job back to her small home town. She inherits a cosy little cottage and a little flower shop / bookshop / café / whatever. She runs into her ex and there's still chemistry there. But then – oh no! A murder. And she has to solve it because the cops think she's the killer.
The Halloween Whodunit comedy murder mystery show at the Bright Box in Winchester, VA tonight was HILARIOUS! My face hurts from laughing. I highly recommend attending one of the Die Laughing Productions shows if you're in the DMV area.
You don't need to know someone living in a retirement village to love THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB (Viking), but it helps. Only just started it, but it's one of the most enjoyable books I've read in ages - character driven, hilariously written, and for young readers who've grown beyond the MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE series, a great step into adult crime fiction.

I'll space things out so I don't spam my folks. Can't promise I'll do every single one. But, we just got a LOT of new #GameDev folks here from dying-site who need to find their people.
(I'm just copying eniko here, but it's a very good idea and it seems especially relevant right now)
I'm Kristi Jimenez, an indie #GameDev & #writer in my free time and Narrative Designer for Snowhaven Studios.
Personally, I'm currently working on three #Romance visual novels: Candied Hearts, Winning Hearts: Wrestling Otome, and A Marble's Muse. With Snowhaven Studios, we're working on Love's Crescendo, a #Yuri#VisualNovel with rhythm games, and Drops of Death, a #MurderMystery#DatingSim where the killer is randomized every playthrough!
Hey there. I'm an Australian flash fiction author. I've been working on a novella which I'd like to share.
In the fifth instalment of the 'New Beginnings' series titled 'A mother's love' Lee's worst nightmare has come to fruition and the move to Malandra has thrown her life into chaos. She is hanging on by a thread as she contemplates the worst thing that a parent could imagine. Mick, the local constable goes on the hunt for the children, fearful of what he may find out.
While you're there, read the rest of the 'New Beginnings' series and browse through my other stories.
It's been a while since I posted about my novel, which is available on Amazon (and soon other places). If you like a strong female detective with plenty of mental problems, give it a try! Boosts are always appreciated.
A Memory of Murder
Some people envision the future. I envision the past.
I'm not one for "New Year's resolutions", but I am one for overly ambitious projects.
For 2023, Project365 is "One New Game Per Day".
Given that I have 634 unplayed games in my Steam account and {mumble} unredeemed bundle Steam keys, there's a reason my unplayed collection is tagged "Pile of Shame".
I'll pin this to my profile, and give a brief summary here each day (or x, if I miss x days due to work or stuff).
I'll play 15-30 minutes of (at least) one new game I've never played before (or played less than 15 minutes of). I'll give every game at least 15 minutes, even if I hate every minute of it.
I'm also open to suggestions; if you reply to this thread with a game, I'll schedule it, or tell you what I thought of it.
One of the things that's come up is that I have a bunch of games that I've played once, and not touched again.
Over the last 279 games, I felt like I'd played every type of game that's available. I've played games I would not normally choose to play.
Who Pressed Mute On Uncle Marcus is a FMV murder mystery, and the seventh game in the September Humble Choice Bundle, and the first FMV game I've reviewed this year.
The video quality is good, the actors are OK, and Uncle Marcus is played by Andy Buckley, arguably best known as David Wallace in the US version of The Office.
I won't spoil the storyline, but you're presented with choices to make which leads to a branching decision tree as you try to solve a murder in one night.
If you like Andy Buckley, and FMV games, you'll like this. If you don't like either or both, this probably won't be your cup of tea.
In any case, I'll probably end up playing this through, because I'm a bit meh about FMV games, but I do like Andy Buckley (he was great in Avenue 5 too).
