Twice in the past few months, I have received something identified to me as a "friendship bracelet" that did not look like the friendship bracelets I was familiar with. I'm wondering if it's a generational thing or a regional thing or what, and to that end I'd like to do an unscientific poll.
The polls showed Dems would narrowly hold or lose the House. But pundits and reporters decided that "historic midterm patterns," and vibes, were more important than the polls.
It was normalcy bias. There had been no previous midterms following a coup attempt and SCOTUS stripping long held rights. #punditry#polls#uspol
Results of 6 polling sources looking for correlations between a person's preference for wearing shoes vs if they would prefer to be a vampire or a Werewolf.
I expected the two high peaks.
The W+S response is higher than I though it would be, but still falls in my prediction it'd be the lowest selection rate.
A sample size of 78 is much better turnout than I expected. Still too small to 'write a paper' as a friend would say.
Entertainment Weekly has selected its top 10 TV shows of 2023, which include "Reservation Dogs," "I'm a Virgo" and "Succession." The magazine has also chosen three duds, one of which is "rehashed IP," (reboots of "Fatal Attraction," "Frasier" and the like). Here's the full list. Which is your favorite? Tell us in the comments if you think there are any egregious omissions.
#Mastodon users: You may know that there are more services in the Fediverse than just Mastodon and that some servers have significantly higher character limits for posts.
What do you do when coming across 1000+ character posts?
(This includes entire blog articles from WriteFreely, WordPress etc.)
Some people think this is great: if all goes well, it's an opportunity for people on Mastodon, Pixelfed, Misskey, and other fediverse platfirms to follow (and eventually communicate with) friends and public figures on Threads.
Others see it as a threat -- because of Meta's long history of exploiting people's data without consent, hosting hate groups and harassers, discriminating against LGBTQ+ people, Black activists, and Palestinians, and contributing to genocides.
I'm running this for a week this time, maybe now I'll really see the results flow. #polls
As you know, I am a proud introvert. I crave solitude and enjoy staying in on Friday or Saturday nights. My social battery dies quickly at social events, and then I get tired and wanna go home.
Wow #Fediverse, thanks for the help! I am genuinely surprised at how close the results were. It looks like the recommendation is to try out the #Threadiverse (#Kbin and / or #Lemmy) first - but only by 1.8% over #Peertube! Y'all must know that I've been getting frustrated with #Reddit lately. I also appreciate the recommendations for other things to explore.
Now the question is Kbin or Lemmy? Or both? (any thoughts?)
"Sociologists point out that in today's Russia, those who participate in polls often perceive them as a form of communication with the authorities and adjust their answers accordingly."
Okay friends. So I have been slack on my morning #KoffeeWithKyle posts as of late. Reason being is that I wasn't getting much responses from them and I felt that they weren't doing much good. :( So, I just decided to take a break from them.
Should I pick back up on them or just leave them in the past?
