Anyone got an old 486 or pentium 1-3 pc they wanna get rid of? My kid is really interested in playing with old computers #vintagecomputing#retrocomputing
(It's actually a Macintosh Clone from Power Computing, which happened during the short few years during the 90s where Apple allow other manufacturers to build Macintosh computers and license out their ROMs and software. It didn't work out as the Clones end up being cheaper and selling more than Apple's offerings, especially in the high end. Steve Jobs eventually killed the program).
Join us for the 2nd Retro Gaming Buy/Sell/Trade Event in Slovenia on Saturday, June 15th! This garage sale/flea market-style event will be held in front of the museum.
What was the last printed magazine article to publish detailed plans for building your own computer, and when was it? 1990s? Early ‘80s? I’m talking about plans with detailed schematics and PCB layouts, like the Mark-8 or COSMAC ELF. #VintageComputing#RetroComputing
I know this is a long shot, but do any of you have a hotsync cable for a #Palm m100 or m105? My Palm won't sync reliably and I think the cable might have a break in it.
Found a listing for a Vintage Apple IIc Personal Computer with monitor, printer, and more. It boots up! Price is currently at $302. Auction ends on May 28th. I bet this ends up getting pretty pricey, but definitely worth keeping an eye on: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/199793185
Hate those fake updates from USPS where their computer sees that nothing has happened for a couple of days and inserts some generic "oh, we've totally put it on a truck and it's heading to you!” It has been sitting there for 3 days! Definitely not arriving today. 😔
Doing some searching about how a diode in reverse can be used as a voltage regulator leads me to Zener diodes. Looking at D22-D26, D26 has a black stripe while the rest all have green stripes. D26 must be a zener diode.
If I lift D26, will that prevent the +5V rail from coming up? Will something else on the power supply blow up without it?
Remembered I had a big variac. I was able to get the power supply to start by slowly bringing up the AC voltage. It’s hard to repeat, but I was able to do it more than once.
Sometimes those impulse purchases turn out to be pretty handy. Bought this endoscope several months ago and it has just been sitting around. Can see the labels without having to tear all the components off. #electronics#electronicsrepair#RetroComputing#VintageComputing
When I was a youngster in the late 1980s, I formed an Amiga game dev team with 2 friends.
Before making games, we started by trying to sell game music that used minimal RAM, made with our music editor SIDmon.
To promote our game music, this energetic music module was composed by our musician Ramon Braumuller. The file, including tiny sampled sounds, is only 22 kilobytes.
Our Amiga game Hoi was released worldwide on 3.5 inch diskettes in 1992.
This rhythmic tune was composed by our musician Ramon Braumuller, reflecting Hoi level 2's construction site environment. The track was made using our own music editor Digital Mugician.
