Initially, what she wanted to find was a seer, an oracle or a prophetess who could impart to her teachings of truth. For that reason she traveled to where she thought this person could be.
But in the course of the journey, she realized that what she was searching for was not someone to TELL her the truth, but the truth itself.
The beach stretched on for miles, and she strolled through the surf all afternoon, into the evening.
Smiling, she felt the breeze ruffle through her hair -- a light kiss from the goddess of the sea. The sun was warm, the water cool, and she felt quietly elated, her soul basking in the glow of light that surrounded and embraced her.
She looked like she was thinking deeply, and she was. And what she was pondering was this:
"How is it that a small but definitive segment of people can make a thoughtless or disparaging comment in a post or text, and then feel that they are absolved of the offense of insulting another by adding LOL at the end?"
Summer dress... based on one of my aunt's holiday travel photos. (I don't publish original here, don't want to publish her face without consent).
Aaaand... this constant problem with shadows on faces on model photos :blobCat_giggle:
My friend Wallflower wore a dress to work today.
She doesn’t wear dresses…
like,
ever.
But she found a dress of hers she wore in her late teens early 20s, it survived the wash and it actually still fits. And she decided she wanted to wear it.
Yeah. Let that soak in y’all. Wallflower is a beast. A dress from 30yrs ago still fits her.
Earlier today, I asked her how it was going at work… you know, to ask what the reception was like of people seeing her in a dress. Her response was awesome. Something to the effect of “no one has said anything. I think they’re scared of me.”
That got me to thinking… what kind of energy is she giving off today compared to her already “get shit done” attitude she has at work. Like is it (n x 3) where n=her typical energy? You know is it like “don’t mess with me today cuz I am feelin’ this dress, these combat boots and I will cut you” type of energy.
So, yeah. To see a #woman feel more confident than normal and in a dress?… friggin’ awesome. So cool to see her just exude it, like confidence is flowing out of her pores and you can taste it in the air as she runway-walks past you. In doing so, confidence is spilling over onto the floor, even when she’s dropped some of her armor and is showing her softer side… when she shows a more feminine aspect of who she is. I wanna be like that!
sigh
So many of the women i’ve met here, cis and trans, are so damn strong. They are so bad ass, intelligent, articulate, funny, witty and yes… gorgeous as well. And if you’re wondering who those women are I’m talking about…
You. I’m talking about you. Yes, you, girlfriend who is reading this.
I feel really fortunate to have met these women and have then welcome me into the sorority of women. I guess this post is rather apropos as we near the end of #WomensHistoryMonth.
Y’all are so damn awesome.
Thanks for the lesson @Waitnwallflower
You’re a bad ass.
She had barely taken a sip of tea before the knock came at the kitchen door.
Did she recognize that knock? Friend, foe, salesperson?
It was worth taking another long sip before making a decision. Friend, she'd answer and invite them to join her. Salesperson, politico, proselytizer or foe, no.
She knew perfectly well that she wasn't dressed the way she was "supposed" to be for where she was, in the same way that she didn't believe the way she was "supposed" to believe nor live her life and pursue her interests and dreams the way she was "supposed" to do.
But because she knew her own mind, she didn't pay attention to the voices of conformity.
The state where she taught, #Missouri, sold ⅓ of its eggs to #California, & #ErinHawley believed that a #BlueState had no #right to impose its #values & rules on MO’s farmers. Apparently, Missourians should be allowed to [#abuse#animals but no one in the nation should be allowed to save a #woman from a life-threatening nonviable pregnancy]
She joined in a #lawsuit against Cali’s AG at the time, #KamalaHarris. A judge found that the challengers could show no direct injury & dismissed the case.
“The oldest woman was about 45 to 50 years old, and then a very young #warrior#woman, who was between 12 and 13 years old. That’s the astounding part of this discovery because it shows that women of all ages were active warriors and participated in battle alongside the men and were buried with the same honors as the men.” https://www.ancient-origins.net/news-history-archaeology/amazonian-women-evidence-0020558
